MGH BSN Summer 2015

Published

Is anyone else applying to the MGH Accelerated BSN program for Summer 2015? How is everyone feeling about it??

@SKay226. Yes, I'm from LA. It'll be a big change since i haven't seen mountains of snow.

I've yet to decide where to attend as I haven' heard back from other schools yet and red to consider financial offers.

It's a miracle that I got in since I still have lifespan to complete. I still can't believe it's real...

Hello everyone. I was also accepted and am super excited. For all those asking about scholarship information being sent with this notice, I received notice of my scholarship award in the same admission acceptance letter. It was a short paragraph that did not give an amount, but said I should get an email in a few days with more information. I hope this helps. Really excited to see all your lovely faces in May!

@markrleon. i remember you were accepted at NYU as well. Did you decline their offer? Also, may I ask, what are your stats? I've applied to NYU and I'm waiting to hear back.

That's dissapointing about the scholarships. I want to be a nurse but I was hoping to get a scholarship because I already have about the same amount in debt. Who knows, I may be freeing up a spot for someone else on the waitlist :(

For those whom are accepted, when are the deposits due to hold your spot in the program?

@SKay226 or any out there. If I do not have loans from undergraduate, would I still be eligible for all federal loans? does it make a difference?

I think if you don't have a bachelors you might still have some ability to get federal aide. I've reached the cap I'm pretty sure...and if you're getting a second bachelors you don't get any...or at least that is what i think...could be wrong.

Mine said nothing about any financial aid. Will you all be filling out the FAFSA?

@ SKay226. I already have a bachelors, but I went to an in-state school so I'm debt free, I don't understand what is maxing out federal loans?

@ liebmanrs and @ellisboys4. don't give up hope! wait listed still gives a chance. If I do decide not to attend I will offer my spot to someone else asap. Most likely, I will be putting in a deposit because I haven't heard from other schools. If accepted at an in-state school, I will go with that option.

I have no private debt so debt from my Bachelors degree and some from my Masters (I was an adjunct faculty member and GA for three depts so most was paid) was through the government. So I have no borrowing ability from the government.

Also, per MGH's webpage "

NOTE: Because students enrolling have already achieved a baccalaureate degree, our students are not eligible for certain grant programs, including

  • Federal Pell Grant
  • Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant
  • Massachusetts (and most other state) grant and scholarship programs
