MGH ABSN Summer 2019

Published

Hi everyone! I thought I'd start a post for the MGH ABSN Summer 2019 program! I was wondering what everyone's backgrounds were. I am a senior finishing my degree in psych with a minor in bio. I have a 3.6 GPA and I am taking the TEAS this week. I'd love to hear other people's stats and which schools you're applying to!

Hey everyone! I was accepted as well.. My stats were undergrad GPA of 3.22, prerequisite gpa 3.6. I majored in psychology and minored in business. Scored a 78 on the TEAS. No clinical experience, just 6-7 years working in special education and disability services. Beyond excited to start in May!! Also - is there an accepted FB group? Hoping to hear from MGH about an accepted students day or something similar

Anyone in this thread apply for the January 15th deadline?

I did! I waited until the fall semester was over because I didn't want to "jinx" my A&P grade. I also applied to Regis, Mass College of Pharm, UMiami and Oregon Health & Science University. Undergrad GPA was 3.03 but pre-reqs were 3.57 with Exemplary score from the TEAS. NursingCAS only just verified all my documents last week, but I'm hoping to hear soon!

Hello! That’s great you applied to a lot of schools. I only applied to MGH and UMass Boston. I got waitlisted at umass and I’m anxiously waiting to hear back from mass general. My undergrad GPA was 3.3 and my pre-req GPA was 3.8. NursingCAS just verified all my documents last week too!!! Fingers crossed!

I just got my acceptance today! looking forward to meeting everyone!

It was verified at the beginning of the month. Good luck!

@asb718 when did you apply to the program? which deadline?

Hello! I've also been accepted! Currently I am torn between MCPHS and MGH IHP. The ABSN program at MGH IHP is significantly more expensive but I am wondering if the Boston location and former affiliation with MGH means that students will have an advantage like having clinicals in the bigger Boston hospitals. I know that the elevated cost is partially because of the name, but I was told MGH IHP isn't even affiliated with the hospital anymore. Does anyone have any positive or negative insight related to either of these schools that would help others of us determine if the extra cost is worth it over going to a less expensive school? I wasn't able to make it to the open house! Any insight is appreciated!
