Mesa CC Hesi

Published

To anyone who has recently taken the HESI A2 at Mesa...

-Is the calculator available for the entire math section or only for select questions?

-I am so nervous for the grammar section. I've been studying and studying but am only getting slightly higher scores my on practice exams for this section. Will the actual HESI be as nerve racking? This is the only section I am concerned with. I understand the score for this section will be averaged into the composite score overall but I am really worried about blowing it....

Any thoughts to those who have already taken it?

Thank you!

How did you find out about how many students they take?! Thats really good information because Im going to apply to MCC and I'm not sure what my other choices will be right now...

It used to say on the status page and the advisors will usually tell you.

CEP students get placed before traditional students. In my block 1 class right now we only have 2 students that are traditional out of 31 students.

And because there are quite a few cep students that get placed first that means less spots for tradition causing you to wait longer if your school choices don't take in large amounts of students. For example GCCs 3 cohorts only takes about 32 students each vs. Pcc or scc that take 40 to 60. So I think it really comes down to your school choices and your wait time.

Yep, same here for my Estrella cohort. We have 28 students and only 2 were taken from the waitlist, the rest were CEP placed. So actually, CEP students get placed sooner than waitlist students.

Everyone has their own reasons for doing CEP or not. Someone on here mentioned Banner does hire associate nurses, yes but every job listing from Banner says BSN preferred. Not to mention, there are few and far between listings from Banner that will take New Grads. So for those that don't already work in the Banner system, it is difficult to get into. Having a BSN will increase your marketability if you don't already work within the Banner (or any of the hospitals) system.

For me, I chose to do CEP so I could get it done and over with. I was also placed at my first choice of schools because they place CEP students first. I didn't want to graduate with my associates, not be able to get a job, and be out of school for over a year working on my BSN before anyone would hire me. I'm going to be glad to have it all over with in only 2.5 years.

Im still trying to decide what would be best...im nervous that with working full time it will be more difficult. Do you know how much harder it actually is and what the work load is with CEP? More info the better (:

It depends on which university you are looking at. You can look at the CEP bulletins - the entire schedule is in each one: https://asa.maricopa.edu/departments/healthcare-education-at-the-maricopa-community/maricopanursing-programs/concurrent-enrollment-programs-cep

Scroll down and click on any of the program brochures, and within the brochure you can see the classes taken in each Block.

It does differ by school and you personally, but so far my ASU classes aren't to bad on top of GCC coursework. My GCC course work is obviously a lot heavier than ASUs but I'm managing for now. I'm in block 1 and my second semester with ASU.

I'll ditto this and say my UIU courses are a cakewalk so far. My GW stuff is much more intense and involved.

thats where i would apply!
