Hello!
Haven't seen a thread yet about Merritt Fall 2014, so I figured I'd start one. Has anyone heard whether they've passed Phases 1&2 of the app process yet?
And for the meantime, if you're like me and didn't know what your chancellor's score was, this site has an excel doc that will calculate it for you :) http://nursing.yccd.edu/chancellors-formula.aspx
Okay.. so I don't have a lot of time... so here it goes... I have had a fine experience so far. If I had to do it all over again, and had the choice of other schools I would choose to do Merritt again. What has made it worth it, has really been the students.. lol. I have made best friends for life with a lot of the people, and that makes it worth it to me. We really have each other backs. I have friends who are attending Los Medanos Nursing program, and their program seems as hard as ours; if not harder. Basically, all programs are hard, and your have to study your butt off for all of them. The bad rap that Merritt has, has gotten better; and the most change they have had has been with our class. Just like with any other program, there are fantastic teachers, and those who make a bad rap for the program. I would say a weakness is definitely the program and the school having lack of communication and being unorganized. Other than that, you pretty much work hard, give your all, and develop a little thick skin and you will be fine :)
Private Message me with any other info. I huge battle over the summer when you attend any nursing program,is getting all your health info in line. You need to get a double negative TB skin test done (with paperwork showing it to be negative) you need to have BLS CPR, TDAP shot, and much more.. contact me for more info if you want it.
They sent it to my personal email. The email I gave on my application.
Thank you for your patience.
The next step requires that you submit your scores from the Test of Essential Academic Skill 5.0 (TEAS). We will only accept first time TEAS scores and we wiill only accept them electronically. contact ATI to have your first time scores sent electronically from ATI to the ADN Program Director at your own expense. ATI generally sends scores the same day as your request and you will receive an email confirmation that your scores have been sent. If you have not taken the TEAS 5.0 exam you are scheduled to take it here at Merrit on Monday, June 16th, 2014 at 0900.
Please respond to this message to indicate your receipt.
Regards,
Merrit College Nursing
I didn't get the email either. I didn't get it on my Merritt college email or personal email. I agree that they are very disorganized. Its very unappealing. I've only applied to two schools and I am fortunate that I got into my first choice. It would be nice not to have to drive far to school, but Chabot is not very far from Oakland anyway.
Did somebody mention Chabot??? That nursing school is full of drama! They only have a couple of decent professors. The majority of them are self absorbed. They pick and choose the people they want to graduate. The lady that runs the lab is nice if she likes you and if she doesn't you'll leave that lab in tears!!! Good luck, I hope I didn't scare you, but you'll see what I'm talking about the first couple of months there. I hope you have a better experience than I did.

Congrats.
What did you think of the school? Did you have a good experience there overall?
