Creating this to give an insight into the process of applying to Mercy Hospital College of Nursing. I've attended the information session. I took the NLN entrance exam and got a 78% overall score. (73% is passing) I'm waiting to see whats the next step once the administrator sends the needed information. Let's see whats next.

So I passed my NLN exam almost 2 weeks now still haven't gotten email from administrator. Whats the next step after passing?

They usually email you the application form and you submit the application fee along with it. Maybe due to the hurricane everything is all backed up.

Hello, when do you guys go to school and clinical (night or day, which days, etc)? Do you feel like it's manageable? Like the workload, etc. How often are tests?

Thanks!

Hello so far in the first semester we have 2 classes and we go to school Wednesday, Thursday (3pm-10pm), and a clinical day (7am -7pm). (You can choose your clinical day either Saturday, Sunday, or Monday) We have a test every 2 weeks but sometime 2 test a week for different classes. It's manageable the instructors are helpful and are available when you need them. The workload is a lil heavy with everything but its possible if your focused.

Hope this helps.

Thank you so much for replying! I really appreciate it, Do you know when their program start dates are? How are the tests (do you feel prepared for them? are the chapters big? etc)

No problem. No, I am not aware of the start dates. Yes I do feel prepared for the test the teachers are good and make sure you understand the information. Especially connecting what you do as a nurse based on s/s. The chapters are big but the powerpoints condenses the information and just focus on the primary information. Hope that helps. Let me know if you have any more questions.

Do a lot of people fail? How many times can you fail before you get kicked out? I'm a new LPN grad, Do you think you need experience before you get into the program?

Not a lot a people fail but I do know there was a few people who failed medsurg 1 due to the comprehensive exam. You can only fail a class 2 times before getting kicked out. As for the test for each test you have to have a 77% on each or the average of all the test for that class must be 77%. Except for math you have to have a 90% for all the test. (3 test total and it must equal 90%) (it's a high number I know but if you do the practice problems and go to the reviews you should be fine) If you want a head start on the math start reviewing dimensional analysis. No you don't need experience many of my classmates just finished the LPN program in April and have started the August LPN to RN class.

Okay also I really want to come next august. My last two prereqs (Microbio and Anatomy 2) are going to be taken from June to August at community college. Do you think they'll still take me for August? (Even though the application period ends in like June?)

If your classes finish by May and you send them your final transcript before June then you should be fine. I did the same thing when I finished by classes I sent an updated transcript so you should be good. Just give them a call to make sure of the program because they said that they are making some changes so I would call them and you MUST to attend an information session prior to admission. (its apart of the admission requirements) You can call them to get the dates for the information.

So you turned in your final transcripts after the application period closed? I am going to the one tomorrow, its located at the hospital right?

No my classes finished in May so I submit my final transcript in May before the June deadline.

Yes. it located in the hospital. Just follow the signs and you should see School of Practical Nursing and College of nursing. You should see double doors and a phone just pick up the phone and someone should let you in then go to the room they mentioned.

Why I kept thinking I have to pass the NCLEX to start in January. I will be at the session tomorrow as well. Cause I need to know everything there is to know about this program. I want to start in May 2020
