Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Creating this to give an insight into the process of applying to Mercy Hospital College of Nursing. I've attended the information session. I took the NLN entrance exam and got a 78% overall score. (73% is passing) I'm waiting to see whats the next step once the administrator sends the needed information. Let's see whats next.

Bumping this post because I have questions about admission.

I am starting my LPN program @ Robert Morgan in August, expecting to finish in October of next year. I have my eye on bridge programs at Mercy and MDC.

What, if any, GPA requirements do they have at Mercy?

UPDATE: I got Accepted into the MERCY LPN-RN program starting August 2019 it took about a month for them to respond after the deadline.

Here is some info:

They send the acceptance in your email so look out for that.

They give you about 2 weeks to go IN PERSON and register and pay the enrollment fee.

They explain all the fees and registration info and orientation dates.

Then completed all the other parts like the drug test and background info.

Can't wait to start!! I'll try my best to update with info and leave any other questions you may have.

Hey I've gone through the information packet provided by mercy and didn't see a GPA requirement but I assume at least have a "C" or above in your science classes.

Hey all,

Orientation is this Wednesday (the 21st). Excited to see whats next. Feel free to leave any questions.

I have my exam tomorrow trying to get in for January. Is the NLN like NCLEX or is it math, verbal and science like i see on other websites?

Hey guys, So I just passed the first term and so far it isn’t to bad. It was definitely doable . With pharmacology math, you have three test and about 30 questions to finish in an hour. The good thing about that professor is that he provide tutoring session before class. For Medsurg the professor is great. He’s very knowledgeable and you’ll learn in the class . He provides study guide and it really helps. For pharmacology it’s a bit of a struggle as expected but absolutely doable . She provides study guides which is great also. Sometimes she does in class activities that relay to the topic to also help with understanding the material. Best of luck guys, you’ll do fine :).....

I found it similar to the NCLEX not the math, verbal, and science. I studied from my NCLEX book and that was sufficient for me. I wouldn't buy the NLN book because it didn't match the test at all. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the insight. How was the Kaplan portion was it difficult because I know it worth a good portion of the final grade. You have any tips for the KAPLAN? Or any other tips your recommend in general for the first term?

Thanks again.

Yayyyy So I pass with 76% went in blind sided with no prep and decide it is what it is. Happy that part is over. So I guess next step is waiting for an email address with a link..

Kaplan is manageable . There are Kaplan assignments that are to be due so it prepares you and gives you an idea on what will be on Kaplan. The only Downfall for me is that you are only given an hour and a half to complete 75 question . I always ended up rushing towards the end of the test so it can be nerve wrecking . My suggestion is get familiar with how their asking the questions when you’re doing the assignments . Review the questions for both right and wrong answers. Also quizlet can you help you with that as well . I highly recommend to do really well on each test because Kaplan can really bring your grade down if you fail. That’s what happened in my class . A lot of people were passing the class but unfortunately they failed Kaplan and have to retake the course again.
