Who knows when the link will be available and how we should be preparing right now. Has anyone sent anything yet? TEAS scores, transcripts, other documents????

Hello all,
Does anyone know if Merced will be accepting the TEAS scores of students who have taken the TEAS proctored online from home?

I'm sure they will since there aren't and testing centers open around here. I'd email just to be sure.

@TWilson Yes they will. Because they had us sign up for the TEAS through Merced College and paid for some of our TEAS test which was all proctored and taken from home.

Do you guys know if our application will be denied if we didn’t send in transcripts from other colleges before January 29? I keep getting different answers.

@BrookNursing I’m not sure about Merced College but Stanislaus State says it’s the first thing that gets an application tossed out.

I had trouble getting paper applications so I went ahead and did electronic even though the application said paper only. I confirmed with the program director if that would be okay and she said yes as everyone is having trouble with COVID causing shut downs and nobody available to send paper.

I seriously paid $40 for overnight FedEx and express processing and it took over a month!

@Sandrak OK thank you for the information! Unfortunately, I missed stan states deadline a while ago, but for Merced I was bummed when I saw that they wanted transcripts a full month before the application to the program was even likely to open!

I’m hoping that if I get my GPA GE form signed off by a counselor that I can still apply and won’t get disqualified. The RN program director for Merced told me I could try to meet with a counselor, so that gave me hope I could still try to apply! I guess we’ll see. I’m meeting with a counselor March 2 so if they tell me no I’ll leave it at that.

It is also possible they will address it in the upcoming info session this Wednesday!

I heard from counselor that they only ask to send transcripts by end of January so that they have enough time to do prereq equivalency. If all your stuff is on the grid, I’m sure you’ll be fine. Why didn’t you send them by end of January?

I didn’t know about the deadline. I am applying to 5 schools altogether and most I heard had February and March applications so I started looking for schools in February. I live an hour from Merced so it is furthest from me. So far this is the only school I have seen that wanted transcripts submitted before the Application opened up. I have two classes not on the grid so hopefully I can get something worked out! Thank you for the help!

Hopefully it isn't a disqualifying factor for you. That would be the pits. I had to get an equivalency evaluation so I sent my transcripts at the beginning of January but I found it interesting that they weren't letting us have an appointment with a counselor regarding it until the 25th of January. It took them a month after I submitted them to complete my evaluation. I actually spoke with someone yesterday and they said my transcripts are evaluated and approved but not scanned into the system yet for other counselors to see so I can't make the required appointment with the allied health counselor yet.

Which counselor do you have your appointment with? P.s. I'm also about an hour away.

Wow that is insane! But also good to know! When I applied to Modesto Junior College, my transcripts were on files the next morning. They were evaluated 3 days after I put in the request (although they only promised 6 weeks, they still did them in 3 days). I was able to meet with a counselor during the application period and got immediate responses on everything. They filled out my evaluation form in one week. I knew it was unusual for them to be so quick but Merced seems so totally opposite! It reminds me of San Joaquin Delta. They are usually slower.

the appointment is with Sabrina Frias. Is that who yours was with?

Im coming an hour away from Stockton area, so I’m applying to places from sacramento down to Merced. Unfortunately, there are not many programs accepting applications in this area. The college I attend accepts applications in March, so I thought everyone had similar deadlines- I am surprised every school is so different!

I will say that all of the counselors I have spoken with at Merced have been really nice and super helpful. I did a zoom with a counselor in December so I had the info of how long the evaluation may take and such. After the 25th when I met to specifically speak about the evaluation I talked to Liliana and Sabrina but the Sabrina I spoke with has a different last name. I'm not really sure why the make you meet with an allied health counselor once you have the evaluation form but I guess we'll see.

It is insane how different every schools requirements are. The variations of points you have at one school to another is also crazy. I'm in Sanger so I'm trying to apply to the few within an hours drive from me.

Okay that makes me hopeful that I will get some good information! I have also been confused about the double appointment thing. I haven’t talked to many people who are applying from that far south!
You have definitely been on it in terms of organization and planning ahead! I applied to the CSU schools back in Fall to meet their deadline, but after Christmas & the Holidays passed I got busy and only logged on to check deadlines late January. At the time I actually thought I was a bit ahead of the curve but it seems not! I can’t go back in time so I’m grateful I will be able to apply to 4 schools and hopefully also Merced. I have pretty good stats so I’m praying that gets me in to at least one school!
is Merced your top pick?

Merced isn't my top because I would honestly prefer to not have such a commute, especially because I have kids. I hear good things about the program though so it would make the commute worth it. I would prefer Fresno City but I was unable to apply this application round because I didn't have the required Chem class (taking it now) and it kinda sucks their next round isn't until January 2022. I have my BS from National so I'll be applying to their BSN program but ugh the price tag on that one is not nice!
