CSULB RN-BSN Fall 2023
Hey there - I ended up dropping from the program before it even started because they were not responding to my emails and I then discovered they did not have a director in place to guide this online program. I'm now planning to attend another CSU program where the communication is fantastic. Good luck to you!

I've accepted a spot at CSU Chico RN-BSN program. Starting Summer 2024. Looking for my cohort or anyone who is in or completed the program who can tell me more what the work flow is like. ? Thankful for anyone who may have personal experience to share.

pretty much never but I still kept mine just in case. I hate to toss all the hard work, but I'm sure it will just take up space in my house too. I think maybe the sodium potassium pump was one thing I checked out but honestly A&P was the foundational knowledge you needed to understand the rest you're about to learn.

Definitely join forces with a couple trustworthy friends. The week before the test (or day before) start quizzing each other to see what you know and what you need to work on. It's always nice when Powerpoints are given ahead of time but some professors will wait until the morning of lecture to upload them. I liked to download the txt format then copy it and paste into a word document. This way I could add notes during lecture (use a different color so you know what you wrote). You'll find ways that work for you. This is what worked for me. Hope it helps ?

It's difficult to count the hours because frankly there are not enough free hours. Just know that you'll likely be falling asleep to YouTube videos of simple nursing as you have your laptop in front of you while you're trying to read the last few chapters before the next exam. It's not like prereqs. It's a different type of studying for sure. So basically every second of your free time is taken. What is a better question is how much time per week did you make time for self-care. Now that I can answer, some weeks just 1-3 hours, then other weeks I could take an entire day off from studying. My advice to you is do not procrastinate, knock out the papers as quickly as possible, and understand that care plans will take longer than you think at first but by the end you'll be knocking those out quickly. Taylors book on nursing diagnosis is a good one to order. Mine recently sold, but I'll include the Amazon Link for you. Sparks & Taylor's Nursing Diagnosis Pocket Guide https://a.co/d/11RW3ie

https://surefirecpr.com/ This one gives you a certificate after you pass the basic course, but you have the option of purchasing two harder-level courses as well. One person who applied to Cohort 6 said it was approved prior to submitting it in the application so she went with it. Plus, it's free! This literally helped me understand EKG's better than any of the classes I took in nursing school. Maybe I'm just slower with it but mannn those things are tough and it takes a lot of practice! Our professor gave us the link for the simulator game - but you don't get a certificate for that one. Here's the link in case you want to practice it. https://www.healthysimulation.com/5337/free-ecg-simulator-game/

when I applied for the Kaiser Residency Program this Summer they really seemed to encourage the EKG course. Someone on one of these forums found one online for free. It's just the basic one but I'll send it to you once I'm home (I bookmarked it on my laptop). It's actually pretty cool and helpful.

My experience was pretty great actually. It has its moments of course, but every nursing program does. For the most part the teachers are really supportive and helpful. My favorite Professors are (MODERATOR EDIT OF NAME) and (MODERATOR EDIT OF NAME) because they were able to show support and teach without creating additional anxiety. Nursing school is stressful and who needs more stress on top of that! Resources that helped me the most: Simple Nursing - I bought the subscription - it's well worth it. Nurse in the Making was helpful for ADN1 because it simplifies SO MUCH information that it gives you a framework to start from. My advice is to not try to take notes like you did for pre-reqs. You'll be re-writing the whole textbook if you do that. Focus on the Outline of the Book - I would do this by turning the Objectives of the Chapter into Questions - then make a game of trying to answer the questions. I would also make "Play Lists" on YouTube for certain topics - like Head to Toe Assessment for example and literally watch them or listen to them on repeat any free chance I could get. Also - for NCLEX - use Archer - they will likely give you UWorld during your last semester - but Archer was the most helpful for me to pass the NCLEX! Thanks so much and good luck to all of you! ?. If no one else told you today, you're all going to be great nurses!

I enrolled but then dropped it. Glad I did because ADN1 was overwhelming at first. So. much reading. The one good thing about HS95 is that it taught me more about APA format. Fortunately, I got that information before I dropped the class. However, there are YouTube videos about APA format, which helped me when I needed more information or didn't quite understand something. Good Luck everyone and congratulations! I graduated in May and passed NCLEX and I can honestly say it was the best decision I ever made!
