Thought I would get this started...
Who is applying for UCSF MEPN Program currently?
I called XX and he had sort of an odd reaction. Said he was going to email me once he was able to formulate a response that would be helpful. Wow. No idea what that could mean, but probably best to wait and see what he has to say rather than hypothesize.
I am definitely applying again next year, just in crazy plan-making mode trying to put myself in the best position possible.
In for psych! Congratulations to everyone admitted and also to everyone who made it to the interview stage. My heart leapt a bit with excitement (or alternatively, broke a bit in sadness) in reading each of your admissions results here.
For those of you not joining this year's entering class, my gosh, making it this far means you must be ridiculously well-qualified, which is to say that a bright future surely awaits you.
Congrats to those who heard good news and I'm really sorry for those who did not. It is even more frustrating that they made us wait until today to hear back (XX made it seem like we would hear last Friday so these extra few days have been torture). I am really happy to have been accepted into the PNP program. Is anyone else on the thread doing peds? I am curious how many of the 2015 cohort is entering for pediatrics. Looking forward to meeting you all and to those of you who heard disappointing news, don't give up! I have heard countless stories of people reapplying and getting in the second time around.
Hey did anyone else who did not get accepted receive an email from XX this afternoon saying that you are a strong candidate and they want to set up a meeting to discuss how you could fit into the program and to provide "counseling and recommendations"?? I'm trying to understand what this means, and whether it was sent to everyone who got this far or just to a select few?? Any insight?
Yes, I got it too...I imagine we all did. At this moment it feels a bit like insult to injury. I don't really see how next cycle I'm supposed to repackage myself with new statements and new recommendations, since my experience is what it is, and my reasons for pursuing nursing are unchanged. I think they need to do a better job of honing in on what it is they're looking for in a candidate and not waste the time of the superfluous 50%. I've got a lot of thinking to do about this process before I try again.
