"Women in Nursing"

Nurses Men

Just curious. Why isn't there a "Women in Nursing" category on this forum? There are a lot more of them than there are of us... Just sayin'

Specializes in PCT, RN.

I wondered that, too.

I think it's because there are way more women nurses that there's really no reason to have a women's only one since this entire site is more jam-packed with women than men.

I wonder if it's because it is assumed that Nursing "is female." Which leads to several other presumptions, which is sexist...just sayin'

Specializes in Emergency Nursing.

Why does it have to be "male" or "female" nurses. We all are nurses. Why do we have to distinguish ourselves by sex? Who cares? We all bring certain skills and strengths to our profession. Sometimes my male coworkers ask me to do a catheter on a female, I happily oblige. Then the next time I need a hemoccult card done on a male he helps me out with that.

We are nurses. All for one and one for all right?

Try not to get your panties in a bunch.

The forum is here because there's a minority of men in the field. Women still invade the forum regardless.

This. They should have a sub (if they want one).

Yes we are all nurses but some nurses face inherent challenges and have similar experiences. A sub that allows someone to express their shared experiences allows nurses to ask and receive advice.

Should we eliminate all the specialty subs like Infusion Nursing and Psychiatric Nursing because we are all just nurses?

Considering that females comprise over 90% of the profession I would consider the rest of the website to be the "Women in Nursing" forum.

A Women in Nursing forum would be the General Discussion forum less a couple of AN members.

Specializes in Emergency.

Same reason there isn't a white congressional caucus.

Specializes in Med Surg, PCU, Travel.

Mostly women flood the 'men in nursing' forum anyways...just to see how we tick.
