Memorial Hermann Summer 2016 Residency

Published

Hi Everyone!

I just wanted to start a thread for anyone out there applying to Memorial Hermann's Nurse Residency for Summer 2016!!

Specializes in Burn ICU.
Thank you for replying!! Do you think it will be a bad drive commuting from that area to Children's? & I hope they send us something soon from new hire!

Not at all :) it's close to me actually lol and my commute to downtown (TMC is referred to as downtown) is great. Parking is awful in TMC so the lightrail access between TMC and parking garages really makes commuting easier. I want to hear something soon too!

Okay. Thank you!! I hear the galleria area is nice! & did anyone ever start a Facebook group for the people who will be working at Childrens??

Hey! I received an email from new hire services today that stated they would be in contact within the next three weeks. I'm guessing the process really gets started closer to the new hire date. Also I didn't create the fb page yet because I wasn't sure if a lot of people on this thread will be working at Children's but I know of two other girls in my class so maybe lol. Still interested?

I received the same email. & yes if you create the fb group I'll join.

Does anyone know how often we get paid at MH? is it by bi-weekly or monthly?

I'm pretty certain it's bi-weekly

It is bi-weekly.

Payroll ends 11:59 PM Saturday night, unless your working that shift then it ends when you get off.

Next payday is Friday 5/20/16 (payroll closes on the 14th), just figure out every 2 weeks from that.

If you have direct deposit, you get it a day early.

Galleria is a nice location but known for heavy traffic and the prices are similar to Rice Village area or upper kirby with significant reduced drive time and same amenities....

FYI...Former galleria area resident

Thanks for that info! Do most nurses at MH work 72 hours in a pay period (3 12s a week) or 84 hours (3/4 split)?

72hrs but most will allow extra shift esp in critical care

Yup, 3 12's a week for full time. 1872 hours per year (2080 is the normal for a 40 hr work week).

Most shifts are 6:45-7:15 (12.5 hrs, but you get a 30 minute unpaid lunch, so 12 hr shift). Most of the floor nurses I know usually get off around 7:30 though, so they end up with an extra 45 minutes to an hour a week, that will vary by department and facility though.

As for OT, none till off orientation, then at director/manager's discretion and needs.

Has anyone heard from new hire services yet besides that email they sent the other week?
