Meeting AHPRA requirements as a International Trained Nurse from the Philippines

Published

I got denied by AHPRA, appealed my rejection, and sent them 2,000 pages. What was in those pages? All of my lectures. I would do the same- send all the pdfs, every project you had in school. My case was turned around and as of yesterday I am now an OZ RN ;-) ( Oh and I am American)

Hi everyone! Im new to this thread and Im really thankful that Ive found this. Ive just started gathering the requirements for my AHPRA application and I must say, it is really daunting. I have a million questions about all sorts of stuff and I would really appreciate any input from you guys.

I am currently working in Oman and am lodging my application from here. I am hoping to get some tips from you guys who applied from Saudi or anyone who has worked/ still working in the GCC. I feel like we might be in the same sort of predicament somehow. :)

So here it goes:

1. What sort of proof of identity should I submit? I am planning to submit my passport, NSO birth certificate and board certificate for categories A, B and C respectively. Will the suffice?

2. I have placed my Philippine residential address on the no. 6 question on the AGOS 40 and the address of the Hospital that I'm currently employed at here in Oman on the next question asking for my principal place of practice as its obviously not the same as my residential address. Is this correct?

3. I cannot ask for a certificate of good moral standing from my current employer for the time being as they won't give it unless I'm resigning. I know that I can ask for a certificate of registration status instead but I believe that the best thing that they can provide me with is a Certificate of Registration. This will also serve as my license to practice here in Oman. Will this be an acceptable alternative to a COGS?

4. What is Professional Indemnity insurance?

5. I have opted to mail my requirements including the scaled envelopes from PRC and CHED myself. Will it be fine if I mail it from Oman along with my application?

Thank you so much and any input will be very much appreciated.

God bless! :)

I think the COGS is just good if you have already given a certificate of good standing, and the certificate of good standing has expired, which is what happened in my case.

Thats so messed up that they will fire you if you ask for a certificate of good standing- rediculous principle in Oman!

maybe try the COGS first then since you need that job, my process took 400 days....

Professional Indemnity Insurance is like what we have in the US- like , to make sure you are ensured incase a patient sues you, that you are protected.

You can now send things via e-mail form certain places..I set all my stuff via airmail from the US and it took so long- send whatever you can via e-mail/ electronically. I would do it online....isnt there an online app now?

Yes, those are usually proof of identities :) . You can also submit your drivers license as well if you have or any form of identification ID in Oman. Passport alone however, is enough as proof of identity as it is the minimum requirement for overseas applicants. Don't forget to have them certified true copy.[/B]

2. I have placed my Philippine residential address on the no. 6 question on the AGOS 40 and the address of the Hospital that I'm currently employed at here in Oman on the next question asking for my principal place of practice as its obviously not the same as my residential address. Why don't you write your address in Oman instead? You are residing there anyway. I lived in Abu Dhabi and placed my Abu dhabi address that time I lodged my application. Question number 7 actually pertains to the address if your not practicing however registered. Example: I am currently registered with AHPRA but not at the moment practicing, my principal place of practice therefore is my current residential address. This is updated as soon as you move or land a job.

3. I cannot ask for a certificate of good moral standing from my current employer for the time being as they won't give it unless I'm resigning. This I'm not sure as AHPRA doesn't say anything about an alternative to COGS. It looks like it may, based on what you said that it serves as your license to practice there. If not then I'm afraid you have to talk to the employer and state the actual purpose of your request.

4. What is Professional Indemnity insurance?

As nurses, or any other professional working in the healthcare sector, we are open to the possibilities of being sued for negligence or professional misconduct which later on can lead to claims against us. PID then assists us in paying legal fees and damages.

5. I have opted to mail my requirements including the scaled envelopes from PRC and CHED myself. Will it be fine if I mail it from Oman along with my application?

Nope. Certificate of good standing from PRC should be mailed directly from PRC. Same as in Oman. All cogs from the countries your registered in should be mailed by the respective health authority in that country. This is however not applicable to all nations. PRC is an example as they don't cater that type of service. What would happen is you will bring the claim stub to DHL across PRC, you then give them the address where you wish to have the document sent. They will claim it themselves and will place PRC as the address its coming from. You have to do the same there in Oman. CHED is no big deal, you will not satisfy the criteria anyway so don't even bother sending something from CHED. Source: Myself.

Thank you so much and any input will be very much appreciated.

God bless! :)

Goodluck!

Thank you so much dy3p! Thats a load of my back. Im sure Im gonna have a lot more questions as I go down this road and I hope that you guys won't tire in answering them. God bless you more!

Hi! Its me again. Back with more questions :).

1. Ive already gotten my COGS in a sealed envelope from PRC but I'm not sure if I put the right address in. They asked me for the address, and although I was not sure, I put the ones that I saw in the template which is:

AHPRA

G.P.O Box 9958

Melbourne VIC 3001

Australia

is this correct?

2. My school told my mom that along with the template, they are going to include my RLE record as well as my course description in the sealed envelope that they are sending to AHPRA. If this is the case, do I need to also submit separately another copy of each ( certified by a notary public) along with my application in support of question no. 10 in AGOS 40?

Thanks a bunch!

1. That should suffice. It would provide a sense of security if you send it via registered mail.

2. These documents are supposed to be mailed directly by the school to AHPRA, right? In my case, I did not need to have them certified because the school sealed the envelop with all the documents, signed the sealed edges and even printed in the envelop the corresponding AHPRA address.

All that I had to do was to enclose the sealed envelop in another envelop with the AGOS-40 and other documentary requirements and mail them to AHPRA.

When did you send completely your papers?

When did you send completely your papers?

I received the email on March 22 from AHPRA stating that they received my file. Spoke to my registration officer on May 1, he told me that my file has processed in the assessment and is currently with the delegates for finalisation
