Meeting AHPRA requirements as a International Trained Nurse from the Philippines

World Registration

There were schools who had to let students wait for available hospitals for their clinical placements... there are some that will assign you to a different region or far areas...

For those with hospitals, clinical placement is sure and in the same region.

Consider your time in completing the course... and since you are considering the amount to be paid... you are also critical of the expenditures... try inquiring with the school you are currently eyeing if your tuition includes your transportation when you will be assigned for your clinical placement. Also ask how much will your accommodation be during the lecture and the clinical placement.

time and the money is the essence since we don't get to work while doing the bridging course and our visa is limited to 3 months... you could avail of the 6 months as well if the DIBP will approve it.

Hello Majai,

Just want to ask since you are done already with the BP, is it possible to obtain part-time employment while taking the course?

how can la trobe do this to you? is it because they lack of the number of students? why not go for ETEA, they also require student visa. because i am also planning for ETEA and they have multiple intakes. hope this helps.

@ Ikris - hmm I got ur message too..what is ur next plan? Did u have interview in latrobe ?

i enquired monash and they said my interview will be on march for April intake and also adviced to to study about all types of heart failure, hemicolectomy, diabetes and drugs, etc etc

they asked me to prepare well for the interview.....but I'm confused whether to attend the interview on March or to grab the next nearest intake with INHA,ETEA,MCIE...

I'm looking for bp providers with Fee Help coz I got my PR here so only three colleges like LATROBE , MONASH,DEAKIN got that options to study with fee help.....anyone knows any other colleges offering fee help?

hey guys! Just received my AHPRA letter today! So thankful to everyone who helped me out in explaining the process! truly, i would have contacted an agency if it weren't for all of you.. hehe.. anyway, just want to share my timeline

Hi Amaree, where is the campus/placement located? How much did you pay for your tuition fee and how long is the duration of the IRON course?

Hi ikris. Campus is in Melbourne, placement is in Horsham, regional Victoria. Fee is 12.5kaud. Duration is 2 weeks theory, 10 weeks placement.

Hello everyone.

For awhile now, I have also been processing papers here and there. I just want to share my experience with you. I have enrolled in La Trobe for the Jan 2016 intake and they just emailed me TODAY that they are cancelling their course and rescheduling it to May. This brought me frustration because I have already made arrangements in terms of my tuition fee, insurance, VISA and flight details. Honestly, I don't know what to do or where to start. I want to take the BP early next year and I don't think I can wait for May.

Can you share with me if you know someone who had the same situation as mine? What did they do?

I'm now back in step 1 and researching about schools and their fees and intake dates. Also, if for example I enroll in IHNA or MCIE, they recommend subclass 600 business visa while the visa that I have now is a student's. I really hope you could help me or share your stories...

Hi ikris. I'm sorry to hear of this misfortune. Try asking the schools you are eyeing now about your current visa and what they can recommend you should do. They do have registered immigration agents who are there to help out their students with visa issues.

Hi misunjoon. Yup, La Trobe said that they did not reach the minimum number of applicants. :(

Did you have other friends who went to ETEA? Where are their clinical placements? I have tried emailing ETEA but I did not get a response from them. May I ask what email add do they use to correspond with you?

Hi Kavi, I'd like to grab an early intake too. Sorry but I am not familiar with Fee Help. I have also recently checked the website of Deakin and their tuition fee went up to 27+ AUD. That is super expensive...

Amaree, thanks for your kind words. Really need so emotional boost right now. It seems that you are really enjoying your MCIE experience. I have communicated with them and they said that they are conducting phone interviews. May I ask what kind of questions do they usually ask? Is it like Monash who ask about heart failure, hemicolectomy, drugs, etc? Also, while you are there, is it possible to obtain part-time work, given the school load?

Thanks in advance.

@ikris: ETEA email add: [email protected].. i have not much feedback from ETEA but i think all schools are the same. this email ad is very responsive she tells any details you want including the hospital placements so you can prepre for it.

still i think student visa is safer than business visa if you don't want to leave australia. because in my case, if i cant get work immediately, i plan to enrol to cheaper courses to extend my stay and find work rather than coming back to philippines with no assurance of returning at all.

The skype interview was more of how you handle stressful situations, your strength and weaknesses. If you've been in an actual hospital setting, you'd nail it. No questions with medical terms.

Working under a subclass 600 visa is a no-no. Plus, you'll be rostered on both AM and PM shifts, 8hrs a day, for 5 days a week. That's 40hrs a week. It's the same as working full time.

If you apply for a subclass 600, make sure it's multiple entry for a year. You might not be able to stay further than 3 months but you most certainly can go back again given it's within a year. You can even exit somewhere else for just a week. You'll have another 3months to stay when you come back.

Hello there!

Yes, AHPRA is very specific with that instruction. A4, no staples
