hi there @fritz ruan yup i got my second letter of extension due sept 10. still waiting till now.

I got same response just yesterday as @ om'sarah and it says that they are thinking on ways for Filipino nurses to meet their requirements. And was advised to explore options of getting a job on interim cause the board's decision will take weeks.

It's taking long because I think they really want us to meet their requirements since a large percentage of the nursing workforce are Filipinos.

Let's continue to keep our faith and optimism:)

i also got the same response as om'sarah has received from a registration officer. word by word. that is when i asked about my second request of extension of time that was sent to me. i think we are all getting closer to the outcome. i really hope so.

I am in receipt of my 3rd extension letter which will be due on 13 November 2014. I contacted my case officer regarding the further extension and this was his response:

On 10 February 2014 the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (National Board) implemented a new model for the assessment of qualifications of internationally qualified nurses and midwives (IQNMs).

This model is applied to all applications that were incomplete on 7 October 2013 or submitted after 8 October 2014, which includes your application.

The assessment of the qualifications of IQNMs is a complex process with several review stages. We published new information on 1 July 2014 on the National Board website which further explains the new assessment model.

The National Board is aware that the Philippines may not meet the evidentiary requirements for a number of the IQNM qualification assessment criteria and, as a matter of priority, is exploring the options that will enable Filipino-educated nurses such as you to meet these requirements. As soon as the National Board has made its decision, I will notify you of the outcome and how that may be relevant to your application.

I am not in a position to guarantee the timeframe for the National Board's deliberations or when your application for registration will be finalised. It is likely to be weeks rather than days before a decision will be made and you may wish to consider exploring alternative employment opportunities in the interim. We will do everything possible to expedite your application once the National Board has made its decision.

Indeed, patience is a virtue and this will gonna be a long long run. Goodluck to all. Let's just hope and pray for the very best outcome that we deserve. Godbless everyone!

When does the countdown of 90 days begin? The receipt of application or receipt of complete requirements?

When does the countdown of 90 days begin? The receipt of application or receipt of complete requirements?

It starts from the date of the letter that you will receive.

Thank you for your email.

Under a section of the National Law, we have requested an extension of time to assess your application so that your application is not refused due to the passage of time. We are aware that due date is approaching/has passed, however a decision has not yet been made. We will request a further extension of time if required, however please be advised your application will not be refused because of the time it has taken to assess.

The latest mail i've received as of today......I wonder what does the last sentence in paragraph 1 states? does anyone have the same mail here as mine?

I hope AHPRA is not giving us false hopes. May I know which nursing schools are all the respondents of this forum who are experiencing the delays in the AHPRA process?

@gin_buko

In other words, you will not be refused assessment just because they are slow in their processing. They should make decision in 90 days, however, since they are very slow they are taking the accountability for it.

What is your application timeline?

I viewed an online group of UK Nurses holding Diploma in Nursing from UK who are applying for AHPRA registration.

They are already fuming about having their application refused registration and given only eligibility letter for bridging program. For Filipinos, I guess we will be happy with an eligibility letter on hand even if already hold a Bachelors degree.

I read 2 posters who got their decision just yesterday but was already decided last July 16 from the national meeting.

I thought it is also taking some time after a decision is already made before notice is given to an applicant.
