I have started a thread in the Immigration for Immigration requirements for Australia/New Zealand
Hi Rein! Im Azalie and Im a new member here. Im trying to process the Ahpra requirements by myself and Im having difficulties with PACUCOA bec they don't want to print out the template that they're supposed to fill out together with their letterhead since they're saying that they don't certify the student but rather the school. They just wanted to give me a certification. Im wondering how you were able to make them follow the directions there? Can I look for someone there who knows what exactly to do? What did your mom tell them? Please advise. Thanks, Ill wait for your response.
Hi azalie. First, have you research on what private accreditation authority accredited your school? PACUCOA have a list of colleges they accredit and if your school is on that list there should be no problem. All you have to do is just present proof that you graduated from your school. Dont loose patience, just be very persuasive because its also new to them and that means extra work too. Maybe they receive lots of inquiries that they dont know how to answer. My case officer attached a letter of request along with the template. It explains that they need that document from the accreditation authority for me to be considered for registration.
There are two things external from nursing schools one has to obtain, accreditation of education facility and ongoing accrrediation of nursing course - is is not CHED that does both of these requirements, over all, nationally, public or private, other accrediation is just sub accrediation. I am sure AHPRA will have difficulties accepting that these other agencies are the correct, when all their dealings in the past have beenwith CHED. They will not know what is public or private, what sub organisation has authority to accredit.
Personally if I was assessing it would be, who the hell is PACU? whatever, stuff this what is public what is private institute, what is the right one - pull my hair out!!!!!
Is it not CHED that accredits nurses courses and nursing educational institutes as the national umbrella overriding all others, as they are the only ones with authority to close courses and nursing schools, these others apparently do not.
what my school did was make an edorsement letter to CHED, with my transcripts and diploma,
plus copies of accreditations theyve had with PAASCU inclusive of years i was studying there.
so yes, i believe it is between ched and your school, it just so happens that ched is outsourcing its job to
regulate schools or their programme. as ched is the board with the responsibility/accountability with regards to tertiary education in the phil.
on another note, ihave just read an email this am. from my case officer.
apparently, i have already missed the deadline!!! O_o
i was shocked, and mind you this was at 2am, here in england.
apparently they sent me an email 2 weeks from reciept of my application.
and there was i, thinking i should here from them at some point next month or so.
anyways, good thing, the email said, theyve decided to extend my deadline to comply with the documents
till the end of the month. obviously i requested for further extension
and came down to downright haggling. lol.
anyways. i said, its not easy liaising with so many institutions for this, and living elsewhere
on top of it all. sighs. i just hope its all worth it.
i guess we all just have to to keep going.
Excerpt from Wiki:
Accreditation of Private Institutions
"Voluntary accreditation of all higher education institutions is subject to the policies of the Commission on Higher Education. Voluntary accrediting agencies in the private sector are the Philippine Accrediting Association of Schools, Colleges and Universities (PAASCU), the Philippine Association of Colleges and Universities' Commission on Accreditation (PACUCOA), and the Association of Christian Schools, Colleges and Universities Accrediting Association Inc. (ACSCU-AAI) which all operate under the umbrella of the Federation of Accrediting Agencies of the Philippines (FAAP), which itself is the certifying agency authorized by CHED.[13][14] Accreditation can be either of programs or of institutions."
