Meeting AHPRA requirements as a International Trained Nurse from the Philippines

Published

Hey strwbry_nars.

How'd you find out that the January 2013 intake at La Trobe is already full? And the next intake would be on June? I thought intakes at La Trobe are done during January and May?

--a very close friend shared with me what happened to her. It was just almost two days had passed since she got an offer letter from them and at the time she was getting ready to pay the fees when they sent her email to say the Jan 2013 intake was closed. She was surprised when they asked if she would like to defer her offer to June 2013 intake. We both thought the next intake was in May.

I (c/o mother) lodged my application at AHPRA-VIC last 28 June 2012. I just received my letter today, 31 July 2012.

I have to say I didn't expect such a swift response from them.

I didn't hire the services of an agency/consultancy firm, because I decided to cut costs and apply by myself. Indeed, I spent so much time, money and effort to complete the documents. It wasn't a joke gathering, requesting, photocopying and certifying the requirements! I honestly thought that AHPRA will still request for more documents, but thank goodness I got through the entire process without question.

I know this is just the start but I'm so grateful to my family for supporting my plans, to the forumers here in allnurses.com for giving advice, and of course to God for giving me this wonderful, wonderful blessing! :)

congratulations, ianina...that was fast indeed...now i got nervous since ahpra WA has been pretty slow in granting LOEs and i just had my documents delivered there:(

hope you keep us updated...

I have a HUGE problem....

My AHPRA eligibility will expire on December 5, 2012.. and my bridging program will start on September 17. if for 3 months then it will end on december 9 2012 which is past the date of expiration.

I emailed ahpra and was told that they will not give me an extension. If I push through with the bridging program, will it cause me problems in the future? I'm afraid that If I push through then ahpra won't acknowledge my bridging program and it will be a waste of time and money.

What will I do?

hi patringrn,

i guess one or a couple of forumers here were in that kind of situation too and they were able to get an extension from ahpra, from what i remember they just emailed ahpra and explained their cases. maybe you can try emailing them again and give them a call just to let them know that you are really trying your best to get an extension.

i hope you get a favorable response.

Dear Ianina,

I was asked for some of the information missed in my statement of service.

dear friend,

i too applied to ahpra wa, they said some of the information in my sos is missing.,detail the experience gained in the role e.g clinical, education, research, management, attest to your safe and competent practice as a nurse/midwife , indicate the practice setting

please help me with that.

hey guys! i already received my visa and i am already planning to book a flight for october 8 intake in ihna to get cheaper rate. id like to ask what is the best date to leave for october 8 intake and should it be exactly 3 mos for your return date

hi patringrn,

i stand corrected, but your time table as per bp concern is still fine. as long as you were accepted in a bridging program before the expiration of your loe, and was able to inform ahpra of your acceptance in a bridging program, then no problem at all.

to quote ahpra's loe sent to me, "it is imperative that you advise the ahpra contact person below in writing or by email of your acceptance into a program prior to commencement otherwise your application may be expired and you would not be eligible for registration at course completion. this correspondence must include your ahpra contact number, name and date of birth, course name, the education provider and commencement date. upon completion of the above, the board will progress your application for registration if you have met all of the required registration standards. if we have not been notified that you have commenced a course by 08/03/2013, your application will expire and become void and your incomplete application will be destroyed. extensions beyond this date will not be granted."

my understanding might be wrong, so better ask ahpra re your case. :)

good day! i just received my letter of eligibility today from nsw. i have a few questions:

1. how should i send all the requirements in applying for the program? via snail mail or email with scanned documents will do?

if hard copies are needed should i have them notarized?

2. how should the certificate of vaccination look like? does it need a letter head or something? does it have a prescribed format?

3. i have a hepatitis profile dated january of this year. would it be enough? my anti hbs level is more than 900.

4. i don't have an australian national criminal record check within the last 12 months, since im here in the philippines, would my national criminal record clearance be enough?

Im sorry but the Jan2013 intake of LTU is filled up already. A friend of mine was about to pay his tuition last week but he was told that the said intake is full already. I would suggest you try ACFE for they have a monthly intake starting next year and it is in Melbourne also while LTU is in Bendigo. Good Luck! :)
