MedStar Georgetown Residency Feb 2014 Hopefuls!

Published

Starting a thread for those of us that applied for RN jobs at Georgetown Hospital to begin in Feb 2014. They should start calling us soon... I heard they will offer 35-50 people jobs and take about twice as many for interviews.

anyone hear anything?!?!?!?!

I applied at the end of sept and received an email to take the nurse battery test 2 weeks ago....havent heard back since. Not sure how I did on that...its so random. Does anyone know whether they send out both interview invitations and rejection?

I have not yet, but it seems that one maybe contacted only if they would like the application package. You can check your status on the website to see if your application status has change - thus far, mine has not...

I spoke with one of the nurse recruiters yesterday and she said that we should know if we get an interview by the end of the month! so nervoussssss

what unit(s) do y'all want?

Thanks for the update!

I would love to be on Medical Oncology, how about you?

I'll be keeping my fingers and toes crossed for all of us!

I applied on Oct 9th, took the battery test on the 11th. The nurse recruiter called me on the 15th and left a call back message. She's in and out of her office so I wasn't able to get a hold of her until the 17th. It was basically a brief interview to see if you were still interested and which unit you would prefer. I'm in California so maybe that's why she called me.

Basically she said ICU is kind of out of the options for new grads due to the past placements of new grads in the ICU did not go so well. Unless you did your senior preceptorship in the ICU, then they may consider it.

She said she'll be sending out emails the end of this month for in-hospital interview and required documents ie. transcripts, references, etc. I uploaded all those documents with my applications but who knows.

Thanks for the update girlpiggie01. That's unfortunate because my cover letter basically discussed everything ICU. I filled out my app September 23, completed the battery the next day, and still nothing. Landing an ICU position as a new grad is proving to be difficult, I hope I'm not making a mistake pursuing such an ambitious goal. I turned down two positions already because they were not critical care offers :(.

Good luck to you if they do decide to pursue your candidancy further.

I took the NCB exam on sept 27th and haven't heard back from them at all. Makes me wonder whether or not I failed it...well hopefully we'll all get notification one way or another by the end of the month. Best of luck on the interview for those who have been selected and I'm praying for the rest of us who are still waiting for an answer. Thanks for sharing.

My application status says no longer considered....

My application status says no longer being considered :(

Madani182005 - I am so sorry. I wish you the best of luck with your applications and job hunt - I know personally that it is not easy finding a new grad position in the DC metro area (not sure if you are local or not) as well as many other area of the country.

well, rejection emails went out today... no idea how my friend and I were both rejected. both really strong candidates. good luck everyone else
