I'm thinking of all the families who can't afford certain medication to keep their family members alive!
The board must be primarily male. (sorry allnurses guys )

Unbelievable.....I am sure the board must be made up of men:angryfire
I work in an HIV clinic. Second to pain killers, Viagara is the most requested prescription. Now FL Medicaid won't cover it.
Not covered by PA Medicaid.

Viagara is the 2nd most requested prescription by men who are infected with HIV? Are those requests honored? Just curious....

All laughs aside.................impotence of the brain is far more important than impotence of the "other brain" that rules a man's world.
What a waste of money!

Hey, isn't a satisfying sex life part of Maslow's Heirarchy of Needs? As a matter of fact, according to Maslow, sex is a basic physiological need just like needing air, water, food, and sleep. Can't move onto higher needs like safety, love, esteem, and self actualization until the basic needs are met - which includes sex. C'mom nurses! This is psych 101!
Also, many many docs use this drug off-label. We have a woman with a left ventricular assist device on our ICU right now and every day she gets a dose of viagra for her pulmonary hypertension. The drug is somewhat common on our unit for this use and I GUARANTEE you that the recipients of this drug are not having sex.
Remember, viagra was originally created and studied to treat angina in men. When this unexpected "side effect" turned up, they changed the direction that they took the drug.
Did you know that preemies have been known to get viagra to help them breathe...and it worked?
Anyway....a satisfying sex life is good for the body, mind, and soul = good for your health.
:)
p.s. the sad part is that this med is more than likely NOT paid for when used off-label. humpf.

My husband spends about three to five weeks a year with me; he is over in the Middle East. You can have a very satisfying sex life without intercourse - believe me!
I am a firm believer that this drug should NOT be covered by medicaid or whatever its called ...just so any man can get an erection. I do believe it should be covered in cases where it is used to treat other life threatening diseases.
Of course yes there are some legit cases where it could be covered but at the doc's discretion. ex; accident victims
There are many other drugs that I believe should take precidence over North America's erections because what good is an erection if you're not alive to enjoy it !!!!!
