Hi, Just wondering if anyone has heard anything regarding acceptance?
I never went by the student schedule listed on pulse...it is not accurate. If I remember correctly we did have class all day on Mondays and Fridays (maybe 3 hrs for each class??) and clinical on Tuesday-Thursday. The first semester clinical is spent in the lab learning the fundamentals of nursing. You are not in the lab all day~the class is split up into groups and you go during the scheduled times for your group. Its really not that bad-there are a bunch of skills you will learn and a checklist that has to be completed. You will find yourself going on your free time to the lab working on the skills and getting checked off.
You will get a better idea what your schedule will be first week of school when you go through orientation for each class. It took me a good 3 weeks the beginning of every semester to get organized and to know where I was going on what day!
Hope that helps!
Does anyone want 3 xxs royal blue scrub tops with the mcg patches? 2 are Cherokee brand and 1 is greys anatomy brand ( I don't think I even wore the greys one). Send me a message and they are yours! I may even consider giving away my royal blue scrub pants which were only worn 1 semester- they are also xxs!
I remember the fundamentals class being a little tricky- I wasn't familiar with nclex style questions and that is how our tests were formatted. I managed to get A's in both classes and I heard a lot of people got an A in health promotion and a B in Fundamentals. I had a book on test preparation that I wish I would have read! They have Medspub questions that you have to do for certain classes so I would suggest doing those prior to tests- I can't remember if we did them over the summer or not...but they do help. Are you going to mcg Augusta campus?
There are several different areas, depending on what you want. Enterprise Mill is an old mill that has loft apartments VERY close to campus and downtown nightlife and can go over the bridge to North Augusta for shopping. Forest Hills Racquet Club is in the "Hill" section. Go about 5 miles down Walton Way to campus, just around the corner from Target and several stores and movie theaters. Older, but popular with college and young professionals. Towneclub are very near Surrey Center(upscale shopping) which has a couple of good places to eat, Surrey Tavern where lots of college students will gather (especially students that grew up in Augusta and are back visiting). These are also older, but spacious. Be careful of the downtown and MCG area, not always the safest place to live. Most things in Hill area and Summerville (also part of hill area) are older, but very convenient to school. West Augusta is nice and newer. North Augusta is just across the bridge and very close to school and downtown bars (that's about all downtown has). I would visit before signing a lease. The historic homes in Summerville sometimes have cottages behind them. You may want to wait until the medical students are graduating and leaving to rent these, they usually advertise about a month before leaving. Hey i was just reading over this thread and i posted my own thread but no one seemed to answer but oh well..
Since you guys go to MCG and live in apartments there, do you work to pay for rent? i heard that nursing school is very time consuming and is like a full time job itself so how do you find time to work? thanks for your help..im looking to apply for Summer 2011
I worked full time (40 hours) through the summer semester and have still managed to keep my grades up, but I haven't had a life outside of school. I also heard the fall semester gets harder, and I plan on reducing my work hours down to 18-24 hours per week.
MCG offers a lot more financial aid than any other school I've attended because they understand the classes don't allow much time for work. You're financial aid will definitely be increased, so keep that in mind.
Good luck to you!

ok here's another question... is it true that our schedule on Mondays and Fridays is going to be class all day, and then Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays we'll have clinicals from 6am-6pm? I don't want to wait to find out... I need to prepare myself for that.
