Hi, Just wondering if anyone has heard anything regarding acceptance?
I think the apartments are pretty reasonable around here. I know you can get converted houses in Old Town for less than $500, but I'm sure there are cheaper traditional apartments around. It seems like you can get luxury ones for around $650 with more than 1 bdrm. I'm lucky, I live in my mom's house. She moved out to help my grandmother, and I just took over the bills. I'm glad we don't start until June. As it was, I was thinking that we started in May, the day before my birthday.
hey everyone! I'm new to this thread but I just found out a couple weeks ago that I got accepted to the Augusta campus! One of my good friends is also going to be there with me, but I'd like to know some more people before classes start. Does anyone know where they might live? Or are there any suggestions? We're going to try to go apartment hunting in a couple weeks and explore the area because we're both from Macon.
Pretty much any apartment complex in North Augusta or Evans is good. The only one that I know that you need to avoid like the plague is Georgian Place on Wrightsboro Rd. My boyfriend used to live there, and he said he would hear gunshots every night. Avoid Harrisburg for the most part. It's a shame because there are some old houses that would be great if they were restored, but the neighborhood has been in decline for quite some time. It used to be the upwardly mobile black community, but now it's just mostly housing projects, run down rentals, and crack houses. They are putting a new community center or something there soon, so maybe that will bring the area up, but knowing the ineptitude of the Augusta government, I'm skeptical.

Congrats, Csage1! I found the info about the health insurance online...looks like it's included in the tuition unless you sign a waiver stating you already have health insurance. I also live in Augusta (Grovetown actually, which is about 10 minutes from Augusta). I've only lived here for about five years and I'm still getting used to it. The campus is REALLY nice from what I've seen of it...it's pretty big so I'm sure I haven't see all! I might look into taking one of those tours:)
