Hey ! I know im super early to make this thread for the MDE program at Columbia for the 2021 start year ? but I was wondering if there are any future nurses out there as eager as me to get started !!

No conflict because you would submit two separate FAFSA's. One for undergrad and one for graduate school.
I apologize you guys. I had attended Columbia's financial aid webinar and the speaker said something about submitting two FAFSA's, but I must have misunderstood. I reached out to FAFSA via online chat to clarify and they said you can only submit ONE application in general, and you can only submit for ONE degree program. I told the representative I was applying to multiple 2nd Bachelors degree programs and multiple graduate school programs. She said that is fine and that all I need to do is just list all the schools I am applying to in general. Both the graduate programs and the 2nd bachelors programs.
@HappyGirl123 I am not sure why they specified that you must file as an undergraduate student, that is very odd. I am also applying to NYU's ABSN and did not know they specified that. Where did you find that information?

Amazing! I am applying to UPENN, Thomas Jefferson, and Emory as well! When did you submit your application?
I'm applying to UPenn and Emory ?
I submitted the columbia app 9/20, but I'm still working on other applications. I wanted to get the hardest (and the one I'm most nervous about) out of the way first!

I wanted to ask about the video essay and time writing part. Has anyone done it yet? Any advice? Especially on the time writing? Like how long did the writing have to be and how long was it timed for ??
regards
Hi ! I know a lot of people have questions about those components. I did the timed writing and once I finished it I realized it wasn’t too bad. So basically they give you 12 minutes. 2 minutes to think about your response to the random generated question and 10 minutes to type it out. There’s not a requirement on how long it has to be, they just want to see how we go about answering the question and what ideas we come up with. It's not too bad once you actually do it. So my advice is to not stress it because you’ll be fine. And the video essay im totally dreading LOL. Im going to do it this weekend ?

I was going to do the timed writing this weekend too, but I have strep throat and my voice sounds like a man! ugh! Monday it is!
Does anyone know whether the Parent Demographics and Parent Financials sections are required to fill out on the FAFSA? I know that it states that we may want to fill it out if we're a health profession student, but what would the benefit be to fill it out and would we be at a disadvantage if we didn't do so?
My parents' information is a little difficult to get a hold of and I'm considered an independent student, so I'm not sure if I needed to complete those sections.

They mentioned at the info session yesterday that we didn’t have to put parental information on the FAFSA since we are considered graduate students. You would only do that if we were applying as undergraduate.
