@matchaicedlatte

I believe it’s just one page, im assuming also since they didn’t mention it. Im only gonna just do one page just to be safe.

Does anyone know how many LOR do they want? Also, how many of them should be from work/volunteer and how many from professors?

@Future.NP

They want 3 LOR’s. On the application it should say how many they want academically and professionally. But I think its really up to you. I have 2 academic & 1 professional.

@queen3lizabeth thanks for the info

Question for everyone,

For those who are applying to few schools, do you guys only use NursingCas and/or common app?

Has it happened to any of you that you get to apply to 5 schools and none of them use nursingcas or common app?

I wanna make sure if I’m doing it right and I’m not making things more difficult

Hello everyone,

I'm new to the thread. Is anyone else applying to the MDE/DNP - Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner program? Also, has anyone completed the timed writing portion yet? I would like to get a sense of what the writing prompt is going to be.

Thanks

Hello everyone,

So excited to be here! I will be applying to MDE/DNP program this year as well. Does everyone submit the addendum essay? What do people include in the addendum besides reasons for a low GPA?

Also, I attended so many schools for my undergrad and post bacc. I don't know which GPA they look for specifically.

I am from Los Angeles, CA btw?

What do you guys consider a low GPA that needs to be addressed in an addendum? Anything below a 3.0? Or anything below a 3.5? I had a friend that addressed her 3.6 in her addendum....so I am just not sure what to do.

The addendum is optional! I think mainly if you have poor grades + low GPA is when you would write one.

oh WOW!! I honestly would not even know what to explain in the addendum if I had a high GPA haha

I don't think there is necessarily a cutoff when you should do an addendum. I would use the addendum to explain a drop in your grades, for example, if you received a C or below in a class. That's what I personally used it for.

@RRTtoAGACNP - I believe everyone may get a different generated question for the timed writing but im not sure. Im dreading the video and timed writing ?

@JRoseC427 - Hi ! Well, the addendum is optional. It's only up to you if you feel like you may need to do it. They look at everything as a whole, so they don’t have a GPA requirement.

@KAS212 - Honestly, thats up to you ! If you feel like you need to address your GPA if you think its a bit low, you can write one. I know Columbia doesn’t have a GPA requirement though, so everything is how you feel and what you want to explain. Im sure it won’t hinder your application either way since I know people with 2.75 GPA even get accepted!

I don't know if I have anything in particular to address except I have a B- on one of my undergrad classes (not a prerequisite). My overall GPA is above 3.5 as well. I feel like I would just come off trying too hard if I had to justify that B-, but at the same time I think everyone is writing Addendum and the optional essay??? What do you even write in the optional essay?

I think I am overthinking the addendum. I hate bringing up stats but for example I have a 3.6, however, in my mind that seems “average” for nursing school. But I do not want to come across as “trying to hard” by justifying that GPA in my addendum.
