MDE Columbia University 2021

Published

Hey ! I know im super early to make this thread for the MDE program at Columbia for the 2021 start year ? but I was wondering if there are any future nurses out there as eager as me to get started !!

I just finished the timed writing portion and realized I spelled "window sill" wrong ?

@anthronerd

OMG! I am so nervous for the time writing portion!

Has anyone gotten notifications that they have not completed the timed portions? I get an email like everyday saying I have not completed it, but I am just not ready to do it yet....

@KAS212 Other than my spelling blunder, it wasn't too bad! They give you an extra two minutes to gather your thoughts.

I get the email everyday too!

Aw I don’t think the spelling will be a problem since it is a timed writing. They just wanna see how well we do with like only 10 mins. I haven’t gotten the emails for those yet ? is it because I haven’t uploaded my essays yet? LOL im still working on them. I keep erasing them and starting over because of how nervous I am

I get those emails every day as well! I haven't uploaded anything tbh because I'm still going over my essays ?

Looking at the application and I have many questions! Hopefully, someone can answer!

1. What if my degree isn't listed... LOL. I'm getting my BSA in Nutrition...

2. Is there a particular font that I have to use for the essays (some schools require times new roman) I didn't see a requirement but I just want to make sure!!

3. Is there a page limit for the addendum?

If anyone can answer these questions I would love you forever! If not I guess I can just contact admissions ?

So for the degree, I think you may need to contact admissions so they can give you an accurate answer to that. They may tell you just put B.A though.

And yes LOL Times New Roman, 12 inch font, double spaced ?

And for the addendum, I don’t think there’s a page limit. But maybe I feel like they’re looking for one page. Im going to do the addendum as well, and I decided to do just one page ??‍♀️

So did anyone do the personal statement yet ? I just did mine and realized I went a little over the two page limit by two long sentences LOL. I'm not if they were strict on just two pages and nothing more, or if two sentences over is okay. I just don't want to mess up on anything so I'm a bit nervous LOL

@queen3lizabeth

Ugh thank you so much! A girl was stressing!

But yeah I've done my personal statement! It was like 2.5 pages at first, but after some time I've finally been able to condense it to just under 2 pages! I would recommend having it reviewed by someone to help condense it without taking out the important info!

@queen3lizabeth

Hey girl! To be completely honest I would try your absolute hardest to get it to two pages or less EXACTLY. Do not go over even a word. In the instructions it specifically explains that the personal statement is also being used to see if we can follow basic directions.

I was speaking to another program advisor about two weeks ago and he explained the importance of following what is being asked to a T. I was seriously so frustrated and now have nearly 200 versions of my personal statement to get it to the right length LOL!

Did you already submit the app???

@angrenteria10 @KAS212

Thank you both !! Im here trying to get it down to exactly two pages by taking some stuff out and making sentences shorter. Did you do a cover page for the essay? IDK if they even care for the cover for the personal statement or if that counts as 3 pages to them ? I stress everything when it comes to this school. I didn’t submit my application yet. I might submit it next month thats when ill be done with my prereqs plus im still waiting on my LOR’s. How about you ??

@queen3lizabeth

I don't think we need a cover page! I think that would count as 3 pages... ? but you could always contact admissions about that just to make sure!
