Hi guys!

I was hoping to get to know some of the people that will be applying to the Spring 12 nursing program.

I've been following the MDC Fall 2011 =) thread and I'm super excited for them, but now I'm even more excited since this time it's finally me who is applying to the nursing program.

So...who else is applying???? :redbeathe

Specializes in None as of yet..
Jael11,

Do you know if our classes at baptist are going to be at the same hospital where we were interviewed

because at the top of the schedule it says Campus/location: 520 homestead outreach??

Hey Cristy13,

All the courses are at the main hospital where we had the interviews. The classrooms are right around the same hallway. The room with the patient dummies by the office of the scholars dept. is where our labs are gonna be. Now this is my understanding from what I was told. The only difference I think might be is where we do our clinical's. My clinical's is gonna be in the Coral Gables Baptist Hospital. Which I'm glad, it's a nice area, and a nice branch hospital. :)

What hospital are your clinical's at?

Btw I never realized the Homestead outreach code that mdc placed on our schedules. But I think thats just a "technical code" since were not really taking classes at MDC. But I'm calling tomorrow early in the morning to the department at MDC and Baptist just to get some clarity.

Hi Jael!

Yes, what you said is right. Our classes aren't going to be held in homestead, I spoke to Elena this morning. Thank God because that would've been a long drive! =/ My clinicals are going to be held at Coral Gables as well, I'm happy about that also =) Elena also told me that we can choose what hospital to work in also..

Hey everyone.. I got accepted into the baptist scholars program but i have denied my spot so i will be in homestead afterall. There will be an open spot for someone out there!:) goodluck and wish you all the best!

anybody else still waiting on the background to come in???

pnky 18,

I am also waiting for my background check to come in. I spoke to people from the school early last week and they are aware of the problem. They said they would call me back when they had my print out and they would email it to me to bring in to the nursing dept. I have yet to receive a call, so I will most likely be calling back again tomorrow to check on the status of that.

Can u give me the number? I went on Friday and they still had nothing and i am getting very concerned because this is basically the last week.

I am contacting the new student center (305-237-4141) because when I called last week they informed me that Marina Hernandez was dealing with the back log on the background checks. I have not been able to speak directly to her, but her staff has told me numerous times that they are dealing with it. I just called and they asked me to call back in two hours to give me an update. I understand your concern, I am beginning to get a bit desperate since this is the last week before we start.

Thank you very much!!!! I will call in 2 hours to see what they say!!

Hello everyone, I received that phone call letting me know I was accepted to the Nursing FT generic last Friday Dec. 9th. Honestly, I was not expecting it anymore but I am so thrilled I did :) :redbeathe. I've been rushing trying to get everything done in such a short period of time from immunization to background check and everything in between :uhoh3:. I am concerned about tuition, since I don't qualify for financial aid because I have a Bachelor. So, I applied for a loan but still waiting on that. Any suggestions regarding this matter? I'll be going to Medical campus in the morning for my background check and I'll ask about a short-term loan. Anyone familiar with short-term loan? Congratulations to all who got accepted!!! :yeah: and don't lose hope to those who didn't. Good luck to all of us!!! :redpinkhe

pnky 18,

Were you able to get a response for the background check info? I called yesterday 3 times and nothing. I just left a message for a Maggie Johnson, everytime I reach someone they tell me someone else is in charge of that and I keep calling and leaving messages :S.

Elymadry,

since you have a bachelor's you have to do a SAP appeal before they can grant you federal loans. I am not sure if you already did that, but you have to write a letter and fill out a form (which can be found here: http://www.mdc.edu/main/financialaid/tools/ImportantForms.asp its the one that says standards of academic progress appeal). you will also need to go to admissions and get an IEP and degree audit to turn in with this appeal. try to do this ASAP because I think the comittee for this appeal meets early january so if you can get this in for the next hearing, you will be able to get your loans approved quicker.

the short term loan I am not very familiar with it, but I believe they give you half of tuition and you have to come up with the other half. In the financial aid window they can provide you with the correct info and how to apply for it.

Congratulations and good luck!

Hi Elymadry!

Congratulations on your acceptance. You must be really happy! :D
