To anyone out there....

I had planned to apply for Fall 2018 but I will be finishing my pre reqs on May 1,2018. The exact deadline to apply for Fall. Is anyone in a similar situation? Do you think I should apply anyways?

So the contract is for four years in Baptist overall. Miami Dade students are contracted to work in the centralized staffing office which means you will be floating to different units once you graduate and take the NCLEX. Baptist scholars get paid the same as any other nurse however the float nurses get paid significantly more as what I've been told. The program is no joke. As per your contract, you are required to work one shift a week with a preceptor in the centralized staffing office, which you get paid for (think of it as an additional clinical day). I work for baptist on top of it all and it has definitely been challenging. As long as you do you readings and practice questions, you should do just fine. It has been very rewarding for me, and such a great experience. They really do prepare you for the real world. I have no regrets! Do it!!!

Thank you for sharing your experience, I am very interested in applying for the scholars program. Which campus is it taught? What is your typical semester/week like? Do the 4 years start after graduation?

Classes are at baptist main on 87 ave and 88 st. Every semester is different, the first semester is 4 days of lecture and one clinical day. The second semester is 3 days of lecture 2 days of clinical and this semester we had 2 days of lecture and 1-2 days of clinicals. From my understanding, the 4 years begins once you become an RN. You can break your contract if you wanna leave, but you'll have to pay back the loan taken from baptist.

OMG the schedule sounds great and you will have a guaranteed job when you graduate. Win-win in my eyes. For the BSN do you continue at Baptist or you can do it wherever?

Yes you continue at baptist for the BSN

Yes you continue at baptist for the BSN

You had to wait until you got your acceptance letter before applying for the scholarship right? I know the prefer BSN so do they make you wait till you have your BSN before working?

You have to submit your acceptance letter with you application. You need your associates to start working... so you'll be working while studying for the BSN.

So you didn't apply for baptist scholars just yet right? Since you need to be accepted to program before you apply?

Yes you have to have your acceptance letter in order to apply.

Thank you, I feel so tempted to start doing some of this stuff, but will hold off until I get the acceptance. If what you heard is correct we will know in one week. Just typing that gives me chills.

My CPR expired so for sure I'm going to have to do that one. Does anyone know an affordable CPR place?

I did mine at the nursing Station

Miami CPR - The Nursing Station | 1 Hour BLS Class Everyday

Very affordable

I did mine this summer with NursingUnlimited. They have various locations, the instructor was a retired nurse with extensive experience and the price was affordable. The course is approximately 3 hours. Nursing Unlimited - American Heart Association Classes (BLS, ACLS, PALS)

NEW INFORMATION:

Orientations will be 11/7 to 11/9.
