MDC Nursing spring 2014

U.S.A. Florida

So I'm starting the post for Spring 2014. I'm currently waiting for my acceptance letter for fall term but just in case applying for spring is my back up plan.

So my GPA is 3.0 and my teas is 72 giving me a score around 73.

Since I didn't get a first round email for fall I'm thinking of retaking my teas test so if anyone is willing to study with me please let me know. Good luck to everyone applying for spring!!

@BDA12NV I think the first set of letters comes out mid-October... Good luck to everyone

I was providing information given to me today in advisement. Guess we won't know for sure until everyone starts to receive them

@BDA12NV It does make sense, they would not send rejection letters in mid-October. Acceptance letters definitely, now come November expect to get either.... It all semantics... The first sets of acceptance letter goes approximately six weeks after the September 1 deadline. Keep in mind several pupil have applied for more than one program, therefore, once you have

MDC really ****** me off today...

I took my TEAS today for the first time and got a score of 89.3. When combined with my 4.0 GPA, that gave me a 93.58 competitive score... After my friend and I finished our exams we walked into the advisement office to register for the part time program in Spring only to be told that 3-4 weeks ago they decided to not have the program this Spring for part time students... Needless to say, I was ******... I had spoken with an advisor about a month and a half ago about the part time program and everything was good then... The part time program being offered in Spring is still even listed on their website!!

Not only was money spent on prep material for the exam and the actual exam fee, but all the time I spent studying this past month was for naught... The advisors told me to speak with the head of the nursing department, who then said there is nothing she could do and that I should email the head of the admissions department... It would be great if they could grandfather me in with my score to the 2014 program but somehow I am sure I'm just screwed and they didn't even bother to use Vaseline...

Phaint I think you should ask to speak to an advisor with higher seniority because yesterday I was given the option to apply for part-time generic and part-time transitional since they will not be available in the fall of 2014. I declined both options because I was only interested in full-time transitional. The online transitional was not even an option on the application. You can even visit the nursing department on the 2nd floor of building 2 at the medical campus.

I was told to email and call the head advisor, which hasn't responded to me yet. I was confused by what you wrote, is the part time generic not going to be available in the fall of 2014 either? Or did you mean until the fall of 2014? If that is the case, then are you also saying they were going to allow you to apply to the generic part time position in fall of 2014 without even taking the PAX entrance exam?

I have been dealing with the same issues with phaint. We both went and took the test only to be told it was cancelled. Since yesterday we have both been back and forth with the school. Finally after speaking with someone in the department itself they said part time was only offered for the transition program and the part time was only offered once a year in Aug. That information seemed odd because I remember reading off the website that there was two terms to apply. So as of 5:13pm I am back on the phone with them waiting on a response.

I was offered an opportunity to take part-time generic or transitional for the spring term. Because starting in 2014 Part-time will only be available in the spring term. The pax rn will be available after September 1.

Hmm that is the opposite of what I was told yesterday. There were sheets of paper all over the admissions office stating "There is no part time nursing program being offered on Spring 2014" and I spoke with the head of the advisors today and she confirmed that the part time program will be offered in Fall 2014.

Yes I noticed the signs after I returned from paying the application fee. Thats why I was confused on why the advisor asked me if i was considering the part-time option. Sorry you had to experience that. I know how fustrating it is to prepare so the deadline gets closer. IDoes that mean you will be waitng until the Fall term, or will you just choose another option.

*UPDATE*

They are going to be offering the PART TIME program in Spring if they get enough applicants!

Oni and I spoke with the head of advisement and she looked into it and apparently the nursing department hadn't made up their minds on whether or not they will have the program and it will depend on if they get enough applicants for that term now, which is not looking that great since they turned away so many people... If anyone here knows of someone that was interested in the part time program for Spring, tell them to go apply before September 4.

Hello everyone!

As it seems everyone is, I'm a nervous wreck! Lol

Scheduled to take Teas August 28 and I feel I've forgotten

everything from A&P and Chemistry so I'm busy refreshing.

I'm a bit confused after reading the thread. A couple of comments

indicated that the accelerated option was only 1 semester (4 months)

less that the Generic Full Time. I was under the impression

that Generic Full Time was 2 full years long. Can someone please

clarify?

I retook teas today also ... How did you do?
