Hi guys! Who else is applying for MDC Fall 2011?
I am also applying for FIU-- I was accepted last year to MDC but for financial and personal reasons could not attend. :'( Who else will be applying to Generic FT? Please state what program you will be applying to!
I will be taking the TEAS sometime in March, in which I will also be taking the HESI A2 for FIU. So I might as well be studying for both, lol. Anybody taken the TEAS at MDC? Share your experiences here! :) I will be using a general book for nursing school entrance exams... it's by Barron... and I will be studying my math from a nursing calculation book, and my sciences from my anatomy, biology, and other notes. Is it true there is geology on the exam? How irrelevant... lol
Well good luck to us all! :heartbeat
theres http://www.cars.com/ but i really don't think we will have clinical's in our first semester if that makes you feel better
Would you happen to know the scores of the others that took the teas V with you?
Hi, I took the TEAS-V in very late April. I only had 10 days to study for it. My grade was an 81. I was very happy with that grade. That means I'm in the 92 percentile in the USA (according to the grade report). I anticipate an MDC RN school acceptance letter on/before July 4th.
I'd be thrilled if all the likely MDC RN school candidates get together here, (as well as RN students who just finished their 1st semester), so we can decide what we need to do for the next upcoming steps of "things to do".
Just my .02 cents (or .05 cents with inflation!)
And yesterday when I turned in my appl the advisor said letters would be going out end of June-early July; she didn't say anything about august. I wonder how many people are applying...i hope it's not thousands :smackingf
I've asked the question to MDC and other RN schools...
what is the "applicant to accepted student" ratio.
Seems like approx. 4:1 is typical for MDC (and PBSC).
FAU was 11:1 (1100 applicants compared to
Yes I wouldn't buy any of the books on a old syllabus unless you happen to find a really old version for very very cheap schools change things way to frequently....what I have bought so far have been the reviews and rationals books for fundmentals, pharm, med-surg, fluids and electorlytes, and I got the NCLEX review book, and a critical thinking test taking strategies for fundamentals book and one for pharm (these books are all great because they give you ALOT of practice questions and you can start to get a feel for the format of the tests we will be taking) etc...this way I know I will be able to use them once school starts and it gives me a bit to look at over the summer to get a head start and to satisfy my intense need to already be in nursing school HAHA!! =)
Mariah1984:
If you are willing to post amazon.com links for the books you bought,
I for one, am interested in this information.
Alternately, ISBN numbers are useful.
THANKS

I went to advising the other day to ask a few questions- I'm very torn between the accelerated vs generic option. Here's what I found out:
We should receive our acceptance letters in late June or very early July (they JUST started going through the applications)
No date has been set for orientation yet, but we'll find that out when we receive our acceptance packet
We need to do the background screening ASAP after we are accepted
Scholarship opportunities will be discussed during orientation (significantly fewer offered to accelerated option)
Our classes do start on the 22nd
I know it's not much, but it's all I was able to gather while I was there. I think I am going to wait on purchasing books until after orientation. I really can't afford to buy books I do not need. Also, the adviser I spoke to led me to believe that either clinicals or classes would start before 8am every day. I'm ready to get this party started!!
If it's only our TEAS and science gpa that they take into consideration a computer should be able to whip out the top 150 candidates in a millisecond. Why do we have to wait so long to find out? :grn::hdvwl:
Since all the apps were hand-written, they probably have to upload everything into the system manually. Then they have to double check transcripts for fulfilled requirements, number of withdrawn/drops, outstanding financial obligations, etc. etc...
I just hope it's June and not July!
If we make the cut, do we have to buy uniforms and a lot of medical equipment before we even start the first day? Also, has anyone received an email confirmation that you applied? When I submitted my application I asked if there was any way I would know that the paperwork had actually been submitted. The person working in advising said that they send out an email confirmation (not of acceptance but just that they've received your application). But I haven't heard anything plus wonder which email they send to.

I haven't gotten anything...I haven't heard of anyone else who's gotten anything either
