MDC Fall 2019 Nursing

Published

Hello fellow students! I wanted to create a topic for those who are planning on starting the MDC Nursing program in the Fall of 2019. It's never too early to be well prepared. LOL. I have a B.A. and was able to get some of my credits transferred to the A.S. I read through the thread for the Fall of 2018 class and the Spring of 2019 class. Both threads have some very useful information regarding how to study for the HESI, scores needed to get into the program, etc. and many people from those groups keep in touch in Facebook and via Whatsapp. I'm looking for a support/study group for those that are in the same timeline as I am. Just starting BSC2086 A&P 2/lab and MGF1106 next week at Kendall/Homestead campuses. Also, looking for P/T work at Baptist Hospital or MDC. I am anticipating taking Microbiology and the Intro to Healthcare in the Spring '19, along with the HESI. Hope to meet some great people on here!

Good luck to everyone this semester! I will be applying for Fall 2019. Currently taking the last 6 prereqs I need + the HESI in March. Planning to apply to the Full time & AO program at MDC Medical Campus.

Good luck to all!

Wow, 6 prereqs?! Busy semester for you. Good luck! I'll be taking the HESI in late March or April.

Wow 6 pre-reqs! Atleast you wont be bored like me waiting for the application deadline. I took my last pre-req in the fall. Good Luck with the HESSI guys.

Hi everyone!

I'm also applying for the Fall Semester. I've been studying my Gluteus Maximus off (See what i did there!? ?) to ace the HESI. I've scheduled my test for March 1st, so i'm down to 30 days. My science GPA is at a 3.4 so i will need a solid score to have a chance. Wishing everyone the best and looking forward to seeing everyone's success posts!

If the Whatsapp idea is still on the table i would love to join. Many of the students for previous semesters seem to have set one up for their terms as well.

Hello FutureNurse0001, My name is Brittney and yes I submitted my application last year October 10. I submitted a application for the generic full time and part time program. If you haven’t submitted your application, just know once you submit your application you will not receive a email that it was processed. They informed me that it was processed and the email I will receive is if I got accepted into the program.

Hello FN0001,

Another thing to note is they wont be sending acceptance emails until about middle or end of June. The deadline to apply is May 1st.

Thanks for the info Brittney, I also applied to both full time and part time, but I think I am leaning more towards part-time. If you dont mind me asking, how did you do on your HESSI?

Hi Manny15, yes June seems like forever from now. Im glad to see other students posting about the program. Good luck on your Hessi. I used the pocketprep app, it really helped me.

Thanks! I'm a nervous wreck. But I've studied enough to where i know I'm gonna do well and I'm an excellent test taker. You're absolutely right about the pocket prep app. Its been an incredible source for practice. It also has helped me identify which sections i need to focus on.

Since you've already taken the HESI i had a small question......Do you recall if its necessary to memorize the Atomic numbers for the main elements? Do they provide a basic periodic table?......... I haven't been able to find a clear answer to this. I know they provide a basic calculator so that's nice. Any help would be much appreciated!

I'll keep you posted on my score on March 1st

I took it last June and there was no periodic table provided.

Hey Manny! Good luck! I ended up scheduling mine for Feb 19th, I have exactly 14 days! SO nervous. What are you using to study? I bought the Hesi Admission Assessment 4th Edition plus the Pocket Prep App. I saw on the MDC website there are no calculators allowed, and that we will be given scratch paper for the exam? Has anyone heard differently from an advisor?

**EDIT: never mind, just scrolled down to see they provide a basic calculator! Thanks guys.

Hi TNN7,

That's correct. They provide a very basic calculator on the computer screen. As for studying I used the Hesi admission assessment 4th edition, mometrix Hesi study guide, as well as the McGraw Hill prep book. I also used my notes from previous classes and of course the Pocket Prep app. The most helpful in reviewing has been pocket prep app and the Hesi assessment 4th edition. Good luck with your test! Sending good vibes!
