I didnt see any thread for this school so thought i start one
Just wanted to know is there is anyone applying to MCG/GHSU summer 2012 and/or attending the school at the moment to give inputs about the school
I'm currently working on my application to submit it for its early decision
Tizita,
I just talked to my roommate and this is what she summarized her application to me:
3.6 GPA, she said her math/sci GPA was higher than that, 1250 SATs, she did job shadows and worked with a midwife in her office part time, and she also had some good recommendations. She said her essay was kind of generic (so was mine) but she said she really emphasized how excited she was about the program and becoming a nurse.
As far as students in Athens/Augusta, its competitive obviously. Im not sure why they cut the students back in Augusta. Id always have a plan B when applying.
Hey everyone!
I'm so glad to see so many people finally posting on here about applying to this school. I was starting to feel a little worried that I wouldn't find a community of fellow applicants. I'm actually from NYC; so I'm not really sure what the school is expecting. I'm actually a little late on the early application process because I was finishing up the last class I needed in order to complete my BA in Biology. I guess my biggest worries are that what I have to offer isn't competitive enough, especially with spaces being so limited and competitive. I have a 3.4 GPA, my SAT score for English is 550 and 530, and about 400 to 500 volunteer hours working directly with patients. I'm also having a difficult time composing the essay. I'm not sure what I should focus on because both my personal experience and experience volunteering contributed to my decision to study nursing and I'm not sure I can marry them together to form a concise and sincere essay. Thanks for listening to my concerns.

Another outstanding applicant....no surprise she got in I'm both you and her did early admission...cool. But I wonder if all they will take is people with 3.5 and above for early admissions.. :/
Hopefully I get in also with what I have
By the way, how much is tutuion????

I think you should combine both together that way they will see both sides of your stories....the more the better since both your personal and volunteer are good constributions to you decided on nursing
Good luck on your essay
p.s. I dont think your late to apply for early admission....as long as you submitted eary sept i think all will get in and get processed in enough time
Hmmm,Well I cant shed too much light on the actual program because Im not in it lol. I havent read up on allnurses CNL forums but I'm sure they will have the best advice or insight to the CNL pathway.
I do know that you get your RN which is what hospitals want.
I know alot of students from the class that graduated in December 2010 that were hired immediately.
I think it really depends on your quality of work, grades, and I guess whatever the hospitals hiring process is.
The program does go very fast so I can see where it would be hard to retain all the information.
Sorry I dont know much! I just thought it would be an option :)
I've been away for quite a bit so let me first say hello again! =)
MCGNurse,
no, I really appreciate any and all info. It's definitely good to hear that the CNL's got jobs without problems given the economy back then. I'm really not sure about that pathway really since its all based on postings...which typically only talk about the negative sides of things unfortunately. Probably the best thing to do is shadow a CNL if I can find one nearby in my small town. It IS something to think about.... :)
Hi, I am a current CNL student at GHSU. We just started on the 15th. If you have any specific questions about the CNL program, feel free to message me. Best Wishes.
Sharzejones,
I may take you up on that, thanks!
Thank you lizyun!!!!:redbeatheSo are you applying to any schools in FL? I'm from South Florida... I wonder how the competition is in FL.
karamarie,
I'm planning on applying to UNF as well as UCF, which are both fairly good programs in FL. FSU and UF have requirements I don't have so... =/
@lizyun, how was the TEAS Exam. I am studying to take it in Sept. Any topics that stood out to you? I do have the study guide, but I can't afford those online practice tests. I've been going to the bookstore at least once a week, looking at the Kaplan and other study guides. I also use the McGraw-Hill study guide at home.I am most concerned about the randomness of the science even though I did well in all my sciences.
The study guide prepares you very well for all areas with the exception of the science section. So definitely review your A&P book/notes (I only used the guide and I got surprised by a few questions since it had been a year since A&P for me). This forum also has some threads with tips on the TEAS V I believe so it wouldnt hurt to check them out too.
Hey guys, I just applied a few weeks ago & they've recieved all of my information. I'm really worried that I won't get in because I don't have much volunteer experience, but I have worked in a chiropractor's office part time for nearly 5 years. My current gpa is a 3.59 & I made a 620 on the Critical Reading portion of the SAT. Also, I didn't realize that they even looked at the TEAS because nothing on their website says anything about it. I took it anyway for other schools but I did terrible. (75 ) Does anyone know what else they want?
Am I the only one having problems with the GHSU application...I mean technical problems/ when i go to page 9 (prereqs page)...the dates wont go in...the application has actually changed within the last 2 weeks. help
I noticed that too. I think that section is for courses that you have not taken and plan to take, not for those that you have already taken. (I don't see why they wouldn't look at your transcript as a whole.) I would send and e-mail/ call the school to make sure though. Hope this helps. :)
Hey everyone, I applied for Early Decision and I still have not heard from them. Has anyone else heard back them? I am worried out of my mind because I really need to get into this school because of their anesthesiology program and I am freaking stressed from worrying if i got in or not. anyone know when they'll tell you if you got in or not?
