I didnt see any thread for this school so thought i start one

Just wanted to know is there is anyone applying to MCG/GHSU summer 2012 and/or attending the school at the moment to give inputs about the school

I'm currently working on my application to submit it for its early decision

I AM APPLYING TOO! LET'S KEEP THIS TOPIC ALIVE!!!!

Sorry, for the all caps.lol. I'm just really excited and thankful you posted this topic. I'm surprised no one has even started on this topic yet (I guess they are all busy putting their apps together.lol)

I have to take the ACT because I never took in high school. I take the ACT on 9/10 but they only look at the English part, correct? Not reading. I'm not very good at math, but I'm brushing up on it for the TEAS Exam for other schools.

I haven't even started on my app essay:idea:.

I was shocked too!

SO they do pay it that much attention to SAT/ACT huh....:/ i dont remember my scores at all

I wish I knew but i dont think they specify what part of it they look at...not that i have seen at least Good luck on it :)

You still have time for your app essay...just try to send it off by mid sept so that ur recommedation will be received on time...cause some folks think that have forever to turn in lol I'm almost done with mine just having people look through it to make sure its a go go go :D my goal is end of aug or beginning of sept to submit it (crossed fingers)

What other schools are you looking into?

& also have you done volunteer...the application has two pages dedicated to leadership roles community service and patient/healthcare related experience....and mine doesnt look good at the moment

On their admissions page for Nursing, it says they look at ACT English or SAT Critical Reading. My goal is to submit my app by the end of august. When do they contact the people you want to have complete the recommendation forms? Is it when you submit your app?

I have also been looking at other public schools. My other top choices are uni of west ga, clayton, augusta state. My mom doesn't understand why I just don't go to GA State but I told her that its hard to get into their program. She told me to try but my program GPA there(i had them calculate my program gpa there when I thought I was going to GA State this fall) is like 3.47 when I know at other schools it would be higher. If I make at least a 80 on the TEAS, I'll feel comfortable sending my apps in to the other schools. My gpa is 3.67. I hope they do rounding!

I did volunteer but mine is insnt extensive at all. I only did a couple months, maybe 3 or 4 months at the most for 2 volunteering places. But I been working as a CNA since April so I'm hoping that they can benefit my application.

that will def benefit you!!!!!!

they send out the recommendation 2 business days after u submit the application

Your gpa is pretty good!! i dont know what mine would be calculated by other schools but at my school currently its a 3.3...not so good i know

my volunteer isnt much i'm currently trying to volunteer at a hospital close by

Im going to go ahead and look for my old sat/act is i can find it...hopefully it has a good score....do you know what score they are looking for?

As soon as you submit your application it automatically send an email to the references you listed. Mine had responded within a day or two so it is super fast! Definitely get your apps in as soon as possible, I don't know when they start to actually accept people. I hope they don't make us wait til December!

Are any of you applying to the Athens campus?

Hey jleilani251

Thanks for joining us!

From what I read in last yr's thread is that those who apply before oct.15 and have been accepted will hear an acceptance letter by or before dec WHILE those who aren't accepted will remain in the application process to be viewed again with the later applicants...which i think is nice of them to do

hopefully i hear good news by dec so i wont have to wait!!!

I applied for augusta mainly because it's the main campus but if accepted into athens campus i will not deny :)

have you finished all your classes and volunteers?

I think I'm a little older than the rest of you ;) I grew up in Augusta and graduated from Lakeside in '97. I have my degree in surgical technology and have been back office manager for a busy practice in athens for 4 years now. I did volunteer in high school, it was at the downtown VA working with alzheimer's and alopecia research groups. Then in the O.R. at Eisenhower for a year. I got into MCG for nursing in 2000 but had to retake a class, it overlapped the MCG program by 4 days and they said nope, have to be finished. :( It derailed me for a long time but I'm hoping to get in this time (ten years later eek!).

I know that volunteer work goes a LONG way though, if you have that it shows drive and interest which is always a plus!

If any of you end up in Athens you'll love it, it's a very bright busy town with students everywhere lol.

So it sounds like they wait until they have all the early applications in, then start deciding. What a bad time to be impatient :)

This thread looks great and I look forward to seeing how it turns out for us all!

I believe the ACT english has to be at least 18 and I think the SAT is 480 or 580... something like that.

It's all good what matters is that your back at it again

do you think if i put my volunteer from high school they would accept it?

Athens sounds like a great place from how you speak of it lol guess i'll be excited no matter where they place me then lol

yea thats basically it regarding their decision...i wonder if our chances are better is we apply early rather during regular admission...?

:uhoh3: I hope those are the scores I've gotten on the test

Hey guys!

I am also applying for the MCG Summer 2012 Program for the Athens Program!! However, I am also applying to Clayton State, West GA, and Piedmont college. I went to GA State for 2 years and was planning on getting into their program..but like someone mentioned earlier...its sooo competative!! My GPA is a 3.5 and I think my ACT score for English was ok :/. But does anyone know how many volunteer hours we should have? Because I volunteer at Grady but I haven't had the time to put in too many hours lately so I was wondering how many MCG wanted? Also, if we apply for the early admissions deadline for October 15th then when do yall think we would hear back?
