I didnt see any thread for this school so thought i start one

Just wanted to know is there is anyone applying to MCG/GHSU summer 2012 and/or attending the school at the moment to give inputs about the school

I'm currently working on my application to submit it for its early decision

Yea, I do. I took ALL the study tips that I could find from this forum and compiled my own study guide of what to study. Look up a post by this member named Pokemon. This member posted what to study for. I found my test to be closer to that study guide than the one in the "How I studied for the TEAS V" thread. However, I made sure that studied everything. I searched "TEAS V science" so many times, just writing down what people saw. I can honestly say there was nothing but maybe 2 science questions that were a surprise to me. I got a 89% in the Science.

The math was straightforward, I feel silly for being so terrified of it before. Like the math, the reading and English is easy if you get the ATI study guide. I bought the online practice tests, but honestly it just helped me study more of the science because I wrote down what was being asked(since you can take the online practice only 2x).

I used other study guides for the science part-McGraw Hill and Kaplan. But my favorite study tool was Brightstorm.com for science and KhanAcademy for Math.

The test as a whole is tricky, so the key is to use process of elimination. I think that's why I did well, because I just knew that some of the answers were just plain wrong even if I didn't know the correct answer 100%. Watch your time on the Math. I nearly ran out of time here, and alot of people complain of running of time in this section. You can't fully work out every problem. Most of the problems just require some critical thinking and not exactly working it out.

Take the English section seriously because even if it sounds right, it can be wrong. Study that study manual, especially on subject-verb agreement, capitalization, and spelling rules(not necessarily specific words, because there is no guarantee they will show up on the test). The reading is sort of tricky, but just take your time. You should have ample time to look back and review in each section, with the exception of Math maybe.

Good luck. Hopefully, you'll be taking it on the computer because I had the paper-pencil format and I had to wait 2 days to see my score. Talk about torture.

What's the difference if you apply early or regular? If you apply early and do not get in, they look at it again during regular admission right? And I didn't know we needed to take the TEAS test for MCG?

yea that is how it works...if you dont get in they will evaluate you again during the regular admission. And i didnt hear anything about them needing your teas.

karamarie- thanks for the info i really appreciate it

I dont think i'll make it to the early admission like i was hoping for :( im so upset!! I took mine in '06 and im 10points short for the score required but they said they arent looking at anything below 450!!! like come on It was in 2006

So now i have to retake it and since there arent any dates before the early deadline Im going to have to wait till regular admission

this sucks big time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Don't feel discourged! you can still enter into the program. I'm actually in the exact situation as you so you are not alone! and yes it does suck big time schools can be so picky at times. I will be applying to the regular admission as well and hopefully they will accept me with what I have to offer in my application

have faith and you will get in. :)

Anyone know when we will be hearing from them for early decision?

Robin, I'm wondering the same thing! What does your status say on the application status check?

It's been saying "Ready for Review" ever since I send in all the documents.

ok... because mine changed from "in review" to "decision made by admissions committee; notification is by mail" - already!!!!! - like 2 days ago! doesn't it seem a little soon?! i have no idea what to think...

when i first started college, in 2005, i didn't take the experience seriously and as a result my gpa suffered tremendously!! for years i've taken loads of classes just to raise my gpa back up to "normal." what a nightmare. i advise any new college students to take it seriously!!!

however, during this excruciating learning experience... i earned such an abundance of credits that i managed to earn an associate's in psychology. i also completed the pre-req's for every potential nursing school in ga (receiving mostly a's in my sciences/math classes), became cpr certified, took the net & teas (for other colleges), and worked full time at an animal hospital. but, that horrific gpa from 2005 still creeps its way into my overall average and brings me down to a 3.0!! :banghead: (haha)

on the up side, i also got some great recommendations (both of my references sent me copies of what they filled out), am real happy with my essay, and have/do various kinds of volunteer work: heart walk, nursing home, student-student mentor, dental shadowing... (one of my many back up plans)

so, we'll see...

i'll let you know if i get anything in the mail!

Decisions can be made anytime up to dec 2 for early admission....usually the later you hear back the good news you'll get

If you recieved an answer within a week, 2 days, or anything time period that makes you wonder 'wow that was fast' isnt good news at all...you probably didnt meet a req of theirs....and i wouldnt say its your gpa since you said you have a 3.0....it could be a sat or any of their 'strict' req

If ANYONE hears from the admission committee please, please, PLEASE, let us know. I am freaking out because I am counting on this like my life depends on it. I am just praying to God I get in because I really need this. My heart rate automatically goes up ridiculously when I think about this. I know that's not normal but I am just hoping to God I get because it would be a dream come true for me. Fingers crossed. For everyone. Even if I don't get in I hope those of who really want this, do get in and succeed. Good-luck everyone!

I am a current nursing student at GHSU. The application status is usually correct. My status changed to decision made; notification by mail on a Thursday. I got my acceptance letter on a Monday. It was a BIG envelope and you can see part of the acceptance letter through the window. Best wishes to all of you. I know this is stressful!

Sharzae, what was your GPA and SAT scores? I'm trying to figure out what they look at the most for them to accept someone. Could you tell us a summary of what your application consisted of?
