MCC nursing applicants for 2015

Published

Hello everyone!

I've been obsessively reading over the threads for the 2013 and 2014 applicants, but I thought I'd see if anyone will be applying to the Nursing program at Macomb Community College for 2015. I am a transfer student from Texas and will be taking A&P this summer then intro to Nursing (since MCC requires that you take their specific course) and micro in the Fall. I'm so excited to get back into school and was wondering if anyone is following along the same timeline.

Hi guys, I just got accepted into the nursing program and I am starting this August. I know how stressful everything is when your trying to get in and get the best grades you can. I took A&P and PathoMicro at the same time and I was able to achieve an A in both classes, it was tough though. Overall I had an A in those two classes and a B in Intro to Nursing and English, with those combined grades my overall GPA for application was 3.675 and I got a 92 on my essay, my ranking was a 41. I definitely think the Hesi has more to do with your acceptance and rank than the gpa alone.

This makes me feel so much better about taking both in the fall. :) Thanks for your encouraging words. I am hoping that with a lot of hard work, I can get As in both as well.

Anyone taking a&p in fall? Maybea recommendation on professor or take it with somebody?

That really is encouraging! Thanks so much for sharing!

I know that we're not supposed to give names on this site according to their posting rules. I will say that if you look on the rate my professors website you will get some good feedback on each instructor.

my first lab exam was super easy and the first lecture exam was... I don't know

I would say it's really important to read the chapters and find some videos to watch online in order to help understand some of the physiology. I'm planning to step it up and focus on the lecture more for next time. It's also rough because it's a lot of information for 6 weeks.

Hey! It's been awhile since I have checked this site. @GiveMeTheCoffee, I am taking A&P right now during the Summer. I have it M-Th 8am-1245. It's a lot of work, but I've been doing really well. I have got an A on almost everything so far besides a couple quizzes. I am very happy so far. I just registered for the HESI on Wednesday. I am excited to apply! I am so ready for this. I noticed a few of you are taking A&P and Micro together, I honestly wish you all the luck. A&P is enough on its own.

Hey Jesster1414, that's great that you're doing so well. You got a B last time you took it right? I have an A right now too, so I really hope I can maintain that!

My professor told us that this summer class was great for repeat students and that freaked me out since this is my first time. Fingers crossed this summer class is an A class for us both. I also registered to take the Hesi on Wednesday. What date do you take it? I think I'm on December 22nd.

@GiveMeTheCoffe, it definitely is better during the summer if you have some background in it. You don't have time to forget things! I almost wish I took it during the summer the first time. It's my only class, so I am not preoccupied with other classes and also I worked double the amount I work now when I took it the first time. I registered for the January 7th date. I wanted to have my whole Christmas break to study. I bought the study guide book a few months back, and I have been studying a little bit here and there. It's pretty basic. Hopefully we both maintain our good grades in A&P! Good luck to you :).
