MCC nursing applicants for 2015

Published

Hello everyone!

I've been obsessively reading over the threads for the 2013 and 2014 applicants, but I thought I'd see if anyone will be applying to the Nursing program at Macomb Community College for 2015. I am a transfer student from Texas and will be taking A&P this summer then intro to Nursing (since MCC requires that you take their specific course) and micro in the Fall. I'm so excited to get back into school and was wondering if anyone is following along the same timeline.

Math is not my best subject either, I plan on studying as well for the HESI after my bio class ends in a couple of weeks.

Like I told you guys the math is rite on point with wats in the book ... to me the hardest thing on the test was the anp I dont think no matter how much I studied I would have been any more prepared I wish I would of used my time that I used studyi g anp to study n perfect the other sections... I got a 82 but im hoping to raise my score another 8 to 10% to get a 90 to 92. I have a 3.47 gpa but im gona re do english to try for a A+ which would bring my gpa up .. wish every body the best I hope I get it this yr anybody thinking of the rn to bsn with msu or ou I am

Im thinking of doing my rn-bsn at ou, and thank you for that information that really helps. I did pretty good in my classes Im thinking about retaking pathogenic bio to get a better grade. This is so exciting and stressful all at the same time

I think I'm going to look into finishing the BSN at MSU!

Eek! My 8 week A&P class starts in 2 weeks. Here's to getting my fun in before my life comes to a halt for those two months!! :bookworm:

im currently taking the patho bio 8 week class now, im gonna have to retake it again in the fall :/. for me it was difficult because the class was so fast and so much to learn and remember, well i guess its a lesson learned for me not to take big classes like that in such a short time frame

Hi everyone, I'm so excited to be starting at Macomb this August, waiting anxiously to register in July! I have a little bit of health care experience, but not much, I'm planning on taking all four of my pre-reqs this fall. Hopefully this isn't a choice I'll regret later. I've had A&P at another school, but it doesn't carry over, hoping I can maintain the grades required to get into the nursing program next year! Please, any advice, study groups or anything to help, I'd appreciate it all! I've read a lot of the comments in this thread, and followed the anxiety ridden threads of the 2014 nursing at MCC, it makes me want it even more! Thanks in advance!!

Hi Jeanie!

That sounds like a huge course load for one semester, but I'm a firm believer that you get out of something whatever you put into it. Good luck to you. I look forward to continuing this thread and seeing where we all end up around application time

Im so excited!!

p.s. I was actually incorrect about the length of my A&P class. It's 6 weeks, not 8. Yikes!!

I wasn't planning on applying til 2016 bt I decided to do it this feb. coming up just for the heck of it. I still need to take 2 classes which I am wanting to do in the fall. I have some questions in which maybe you all can answer?? Do you get penalized for transfers here? are you penalized if you retake a class?

Hello ParisH,

It is my understanding that if you do retake one of the four required courses, you will not be penalized for doing so. I also have successfully transferred my English and Psychology classes and was assured that as long as they were accepted, there would be no issue with them "counting". That said- my intro to nursing class did not transfer because Macomb has their own specific course so it has to be taken (or retaken) with them.

what classes do you need to take? Maybe we'll be classmates as I still have some pre-requisites to complete as well!

Best of luck!

Well as of right now I think I just have anatomy and the intro to nursing. .. I may have to do micro if mines won't transfer :/ but if I want to apply this February they would have to be in the same semester and that's scary lol.

Ok so im planning on attending macomb for nursing program. This may sound stupid but what classes do i need to take before applying to actual nursing program? Also do they have a Practical nursing degree(lpn) or just RN?
