MCC nursing applicants for 2015

Published

Hello everyone!

I've been obsessively reading over the threads for the 2013 and 2014 applicants, but I thought I'd see if anyone will be applying to the Nursing program at Macomb Community College for 2015. I am a transfer student from Texas and will be taking A&P this summer then intro to Nursing (since MCC requires that you take their specific course) and micro in the Fall. I'm so excited to get back into school and was wondering if anyone is following along the same timeline.

Hey everyone! I am hoping to apply in 2015 too. :)

Just got finished with my first prereq, got an A in Intro to Nursing. I am hoping to take English in the summer online and A&P and micro in the fall. Kind of nervous but I am hoping that if I study hard I can do well!

What books do you recommend using for hesi prep? Anyone?

Marissa I bought mt HESI book from macomb library. How was intro to nursing for ya?

What I meant was I bought it from macomb bookstore.

Hey!

I'm Megan :)

I'm also applying in 2015. Our timelines are pretty similar, I've taken psych and intro to nursing where I received an A in both and I just finished up A&P today which I got a B. Kinda nervous about getting a B in A&P, I feel like ill never get in!! :(

Intro to Nursing was good! I decided to take it to make sure I was serious about nursing school and I really enjoyed the class. A lot of reading and work but it was all very beneficial and helped me understand the profession better. :)

Hey Marissa!

I just got done with my A&P class and id recommend you taking it with an easier class, just because it takes up so much time! I think English and A&P go well together but two science classes?? I'd go crazy lol :)

The reason I am doing that is because I also don't want to do either of them in a shortened span of a summer class. =/ But those will be the only two classes I take in the fall and I don't plan on having much of a life. I am nervous though.

Megan, its okay. I got a B too. The lower the gpa of the other people your competing with to get into the program, the better chance you have in getting in. Dont stress it. A&P is a tough class and I know ppl who got in having a c+ in it. Like I said it all depends who your competition is.

I applied for the 2013 and 2014 programs and unfortunately didn't get accepted :( I plan on completing credits towards a bachelors and reapplying next year. Nursing school has to be one of the most frustrating endeavors one can take on!!!!! I wish everyone luck!

Also a heads up... while your gpa is important the hesi weighs very heavy at 50% I died watching people with much lower gpa's than me get accepted because of their hesi scores... it was excruciating really. I had a 3.66 and an 80% and people with 3.4 gpa's were accepted over me because their hesi score was higher.

Third times a charm. It really scares me to take the hesi because I see alot of ppl got around 80. What do you think was the hardest part on it l? Do you think you could have studied more? Just trying to get as much advice as I can.

What got me was the math. math=kryptonite I got a 50% on math and a 80% overall sooo in every other subject I scored a 90% or higher.
