Mayo Clinic Arizona Nurse Residency 2020

Nurses Job Hunt

Published

Hello! I am currently in my last semester of nursing school and will be applying to Mayo Clinic. This would be such an amazing opportunity and it would be an honor to be accepted into the summer 2020 cohort.

I've heard that this program is very competitive and difficult to get into without any previous healthcare experience (e.g. Mayo Clinic inter, CNA experience, etc.). I'm worried because I don't have experience other than my clinical rotations. I was wondering if any of you had any insight into if Mayo will hire people without experience / any other advice about increasing my chances of getting hired? Thank you!

Has anyone applied to any other jobs around Phoenix? I've applied to Valleywise new grad (rejected), Abrazo, Banner new grad program, and Honor Health new grad (rejected). Have only heard back from Abrazo so far that I should contact HR when I'm closer to taking the NCLEX.

I haven’t applied anywhere else yet. But I think I am going to today. I would like to try for dignity health and valleywise.

I think I missed the opening for some of the new grad programs. The only one I saw at the new grad program is for the burn unit and I don’t think I could do it ?

I’ve been looking on Dignity Health and haven’t seen any new grad job postings for Phoenix, just California. I tried to email someone and ask about it but never got a response. Maybe they wait to post them a little longer?

I also applied to that burn unit one and was rejected pretty shortly after! I saw they still have the posting so I’m wondering why I was rejected if the job is still open ? I think that job would be cool. I’ve worked in wound care before as part of an internship and I really liked it!

Yeah, we could be a little too early! And most places don’t post date of when they will open up, they just randomly do it. So you constantly have to be looking!

But yeah, burn unit sounds super interesting but I just don’t think I have the guts for it! Valleywise would definitely be a cool place to work though if mayo doesn’t work out.

Hi! I just got an email saying that my application was forwarded to the hiring manager. Did anyone else get this email? Is it a good sign?

I did too! Hopefully it leads to an interview offer! I read on past forums that their app got forwarded but never resulted in an interview. good luck !

Yes I got that email as well! I wonder if everyone automatically gets that email??

Typically, those that meet the minimum requirements get their application fwded. But hoping to hear back in the next few weeks! Good luck guys!

Well, I guess I’m glad to hear that I meet the minimum requirements! LOL. Looking at last years application process. It looked like some people heard back as early as 4 days after they got an email saying that their application was forwarded. So it could possibly be soon??

hahah right? Well hopefully it's that soon! That way I can know if I should be applying elsewhere too

I know! I am putting all my eggs into May and haven’t applied anywhere else yet. So I should realistically have other options ready. But I wonder if other new grad programs are even open yet.
