Dang! If I had read this before my test I would have gotten that one question right regarding Rubella! I knew it was droplet but wasn't sure what one would wear when entering the room. I thought... well droplet... gown. Nope.
Ok I just took the test today, May 9th. NCLEX-PN. I got there a half hour early and they let me start right away.
First question-hard and I don't know the answer
Second. prolly the same.
Starting to freak.
I take some deep breaths while I close my eyes and keep on praying.
I take a break at Q35 and then after 2 hours it tells me take another break and I"m at question 82.
Computer shuts off at 85! whew becuase I didn't want to have to go thru all 204 questions. 2 hours was ok for me and the two breaks helped a lot.
I'm glad it's over and I realize that the other students from my school who say just take the test you can't really study for it anymore were right. Just take the test. It's not like anything you've studies but you can pull the info out of your head if you know your basics.
I had NCLEX PN
15 SATA
15 Pharm
6 drug calcs
yup. :) So glad it's over.
for those wondering if they passed: My NCLEX teacher explained some things to us. If you get all the questions it does not mean that you didn't know anything. You could have passed already at the minimum or at 124 or whatever. But you were the one that was picked to do ALL the questions to test the question bank. (yeah torture huh. should be illegal to do that to us.)
So that means if you didn't finish your test it doesn't mean that you failed. Also, you don't have to get all of the last 60 correct (if my memory serves me right) She said you have to have a certain amount above the passing line of the last 60.
Keep your chin up and wait on that pass/fail judgment until you get your letter.
I live in CA too so as an LVN I have to wait 4-5 weeks to get my letter in the mail. LVN results are NOT posted
you know, i was thinking today....that if i do fail for my third time (as i think i did)..i might just take the LVN test and at LEAST work in the field while i test again for my RN-Nclex...
my practical skills (i believe) are suffering, its been like 3 months ive been off of work, and we all know "hands on" skills like statrtin g IV's, pump manipulation etc. as well as just "people" skills begin to fade.
..a possibility that i am seriosuly considering.

Just curious here, no accusations, why do you think the NCLEX-PN would be easier? I've talked to LPN's and they seem to be about the same except I think their minimum is 85 questions. Not sure on that.
I know a guy who failed NCLEX several times. He finally did tons of research on how to take a multiple choice test and conincidence or not, he did pass. Keep on keeping, best of luck.
No offense to LVN's...Im not calling it "easier" just different, my wife was a CNA, then a LVN then an RN....(so im taking what she tells me how the test was...shes my wife and i take her advice as gospel )we were discussing it, and i just thought it a possibility..The scope of practice for an LVN is not an "encompassing" as an RN so , not saying its "easier" in anyway, i think since LVN test does have less "scope of practice" than an RN test then it would be just as difficult becasude it would seem to me to be more detailed and specific.--
Im just exploring different options, and this would make more sense just to get "back into the field" while i "figure" out the NCLEX.

I think this is a good idea. I was just thinking today how the two tests must be different. Like we don't have any ECG strips. Maximum number of questions are 204.
If you decide to go this route let us know how it turns out.
I had what I thought was a hard test but my friend said she thought hers was easy. She had no math, almost no pharm and was done in an hour. (I had been telling her that I wanted her test before I went in to take mine) Everyone in my class has had 5 or less SATA. I'm the only one that got 15. So I think the LVN test can be easier if you get those questions.
