Has anyone heard of this? I was interested in cleaning out my system and heard that this was a good way to do so? It involves fasting, but during the recommended 10 day fast, you are constantly drinking a lemonade concoction made of lemon juice and maple syrup grade b (which is supposed to give you nutrients -grade b only) and drinking a tea that is supposed to move everything (wastes) along. Does anybody here have advice either way?
I did not want to post this on a holistic thread because I did not want one sided information. I do however want some advice on this or a better alternative to cleaning out my digestive system (i.e. names of products and where to find)
Any help would be appreciated.

Go-Lightly should do the trick pretty well.

Actually, I do some alternative health things myself, but if you want to get really "clean as a whistle", do the go-lightly. It tastes yucky though.
I don't know of any medical studies that show the superior efficacy of the lemon juice maple syrup or other "liver cleansing" type fasts....

If it isn't something that I can eat on a regular basis, I wouldn't touch the stuff. Diets are not the way to better health. Eat more veggies and fruits -- especially apples -- and drink plenty of water, take a walk at least once a day for at least thirty minutes and you'll stay cleaned out the healthy way, plus my advice is not harmful to your body either. :)

I tried to do it last year. I didn't make it for ten days, only four. While doing it your sense of smell is so hightened, you could smell food being cooked a mile away, lol. I wish I went through the whole course. I know an older lady who did it, she lost like ten pounds in the process, at the end of the ten days, you should get a colonic. Good luck.

I'm with you, our bodies are wonderfully made to do the job.
And Golyghtly works pretty darn well in just a day or two. :)
After taking care of so many "bowel babies" from the depression era I'm convinced that the more we mess with our normal elimination, the more problems we end up with.
Good luck though -

sorry - but what is a "bowel baby"?
Bowel Babies are those people who grew up during the Depression with parents who were fixated on the bowel movements and so gave them enemas and suppositories .. . they grew up obsessed with having a bm.
You get them in the ER all the time . .. "I didn't have my bm today, I need help".
Because their parents intervened so much their bowels now need help to do what should come naturally.
Kinda sad really.
If they didn't have a BM in a day, they actually come to the ER for this? :flamesonb
Oh my. That's quite an expensive BM. :stone

Well, they have had to have intervention to have a bm instead of allowing their body to do what it does naturally and their bowel doesn't work as well as it should . . . . it can get uncomfortable and besides, they are completely manic about their bms. . . . .

I can't fast. I get too aggitated, my sugar and moods fluctuate, so I don't try.
I haven't heard of that fast, but the maple syrup if for glucose, and the lemons are good for the liver, I think.
Renee, also gave good advice. Another good cleanse, is fresh fruits and veggies, and not meat, lots of water. Maybe even Metimucil, which is natural (rather than Ex-Lax or Go-Lytely).
Herbs such as burkdock root, dandelin root/leaf, milk thistle are also good for detoxing the liver/kidneys.
Or an all juice fast, including veggies and fruit juices (a juicer here is a must).
The verdict is still out on fasting, as there is no real scientific evidence, just claims from various people who've done it. However, it's a centuries old practice and many reliable holistic people support it.
What is the goal here, and why do you feel the need for a cleanse. Is it just general detoxing?
