Maryville University FNP Program Recent Student's Reviews

I had an appointment this past week with an admission's advisor for the Maryville U online FNP program. I was really impressed with how she described the program and since our conversation I have been able to easily get in touch with her through email. I can not say the same for University of Cincinnati. I have emailed my advisor and she has yet to get in touch with me nor call me back. Simmons College's advisor has also been very helpful and is great with the follow up phone calls. This makes me think that these are my two programs that I will apply. My only concern is, that when I research Maryville's program on here to read reviews I have seen a lot of mixed reviews. Most of these reviews were from a year or so back when the program was still so new to online. What I would like to know is how are current Maryville students liking the program? Is it user friendly? Work load manageable with working and family life? Do you feel like the program is giving you a great education and preparing you to become a well versed and knowledgable FNP that will pass boards?

Just got into Maryville FNP online program. Will start this summer. I'm very excited and nervous at the same time. I'm a military reservist, working full time, and have a young family so I hope this online program will be a great fit. All the comments here are very helpful. I will update this post as I'm going through it. Just one request, could anyone comment on the grading scale? pass it rate? drop out? it's a little intimidating lol.

I was very unhappy and miserable with University of Texas Arlington online FNP program. Some of the advisors like the one I had did not really care about your success. I regretted starting my master degree at this school that has set me back and tried to kill my dream about becoming a FNP. I just applied to MVU, and I hope I am accepted

Hey! Was just curious to know if you got any word on your acceptance from Maryville. I too just applied and I'm waiting to hear something back !!

I just graduated from their online FNP program and as a whole it was a positive experience. Maryville is one of the less expensive options and easier scheduling option that I have seen. As others have said they don't help with clinic placement, but with that said, I knew a lot of FNP students in my area who supposedly had schools that 'helped' them and it wasn't really much help. Unlike some schools Maryville requires you to do time in different clinical areas, such as pediatric and women's health as part of your clinic time. All in all though the Maryville online program was pretty straight forward and easy to complete without ever having to step foot on their campus.

I spoke with an academic advisor from Maryville today about the FNP program. One of the things that stuck out to me was that she stated that the classes required about 50% group work. From previous or current students, what kind of group work is involved and was it pretty manageable with peoples schedules being different?

The first few classes you will find a decent amount of group work. I don't recall it being 50%, but yes, there is a bit. As you begin the second half though and start clinical's the group work becomes less and less. And, with that said, after the first few assignments of the program everyone begins to realize that it isn't a big deal and so you just resort to shooting a few messages back and forth and submit something. If you are interested in the program I wouldn't let the thought of group projects sway you.

I just graduated from their FNP program earlier this month.

Hey everyone! I am in the process of applying to Maryville's post certificate FNP program. I graduate in May with an MSN in Nursing education and let's just say I am realizing the jobs are scarce. They all want teaching experience before they will hire you. It's so frustrating!! I have always wanted to be a NP so I'm applying to Maryville. I am having trouble with my advisor returning phone calls and emails. For example, I called at the end of last week AND emailed him and also called this morning and still no response. The deadline for the application is this Friday so I need to know if he has everything for my application. Has anyone else had this problem? It seems when I do get in touch with him, he is sometimes short with me and doesn't get into too much detail. Just wondering if anyone else is having this problem with this school. I am trying to give them the benefit of the doubt, but I also want a school that will be attentive to my questions.

I am in this school and I will not recommend this to anybody. They do not teach AT ALL. If you want to go to school to LEARN then this is not the school for you. They basically take all your money then tells you what to study then you are responsible for anything. Then you take the test and they will not tell you what you got wrong to reinforce whether you are teaching yourself the right way. THIS SCHOOL SUCKS.

how is the np program? would you recommend it

I am looking for a NP program online. Anyone who is a current student/ completed student at Maryville University. How was the program.

I graduate in August and MVU has had its pros and cons just like any other school. I started off in another school and that's how I know I made the right choice. You will not find perfect out there. They really try to work with the students. The online concepts is that they provide you with all the tools and yes you have to read the material yourself (I believe that is it with most schools). I would recommend this school just go in with an open mind. Of course some instructors will be better/worse than others but that's standard everywhere.

I only had one group that frustrated me. The other students were great to work with. Group work will be a challenge when you first start but once you develop a routine and communication mode then you will actually like having other peoples input on assignments. Group work be the least of your worriers once you get to the clinical.
