Maryville University FNP Program Recent Student's Reviews

Updated:   Published

I had an appointment this past week with an admission's advisor for the Maryville U online FNP program. I was really impressed with how she described the program and since our conversation I have been able to easily get in touch with her through email. I can not say the same for University of Cincinnati. I have emailed my advisor and she has yet to get in touch with me nor call me back. Simmons College's advisor has also been very helpful and is great with the follow up phone calls. This makes me think that these are my two programs that I will apply. My only concern is, that when I research Maryville's program on here to read reviews I have seen a lot of mixed reviews. Most of these reviews were from a year or so back when the program was still so new to online. What I would like to know is how are current Maryville students liking the program? Is it user friendly? Work load manageable with working and family life? Do you feel like the program is giving you a great education and preparing you to become a well versed and knowledgable FNP that will pass boards?

Am planning to attend the Maryville University Online Adult Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner program. Is it true you need a final grade of at least 85% to pass your nursing courses. Is it difficulty to get a final grade of 85%?. Anything below 85% is a failing grade?. Is this 85% the standard across all the online NP schools? Thanks for responding in advance.

Hi everyone!

I am planning on going back to school in the fall for AGNP and Maryville University is at the top of my list.

I would love to hear from a current or former student. How did you like the program? Did you have issues with clinical placement or coursework?

Thanks in advance!

Anyone attending Maryville University currently or more recently than this last post in 2019?

I'm preparing to start my RN to BSN in May full time then hopefully good enough GPA to immediately start the PMHNP program full time.  I cut my hrs at work to roughly 3 shifts per month so I can attend there full time.  Any pro's as well as cons?  I considered Walden but they are pricey and I've heard they are sometimes referred to as a diploma mill.  I researched other online universities as well but since I live close to MVU, that was one of my deciding factors also.

Update 2023...STAY FAR AWAY FROM THIS PROGRAM..YOU'VE BEEN WARNED!! I recently left the program after many disappointing experiences. If you join the Maryville patho and pharm group on facebook you will see almost everyone complaining about the same things.

I have 21 credits with them, but I will not give them another dime of my money. All the classes were fairly straightforward until the dreaded Patho/Pharm/AHA. You've invested so much by then that you must stay..they've got you hooked. They make you take those classes right before clinical semester. For all classes moving forward, starting with Patho, you need an 80% average for three exams for the class. They do not factor in your other work until you get an 80. I wouldn't be concerned as I've always been an honor roll/deans list student if it weren't for the fact that the class average for many of the proctored exams was under 80, and most of the tests are so poorly written they do not cover any of the given materials.

Many students are repeat class takers. I passed patho with an 80 and ended pharm with a 79.095, and they would not factor in any other work even though my average with that work was an 89%...so they failed me, and they said I could repeat the class, and I would be on academic probation. ...No, thank you! Stay away unless you like repeating classes.
