I WOULD LIKE TO HAVE ANY THOUGHTS ON MARYVILLE'S BURSING PROGRAM. I START IN OCTOBER TO START MY PRE-REQ'S AND WOULD LIKE TO HAVE ANY SUGGESTIONS OR COMMENTS ABOUT THE PROGRAM. THANK YOU IN ADVANCE FOR YOUR COMMENTS.:yeah::confused:;):)

I don't think they have a bursing program.

Has anyone attended Maryville's Weekend/Evening Nursing program? I'm currently at SCC finishing my prereqs, i've completed just about every gen. ed and science course needed (was at UMSL previously) and i'm looking at Maryville's evening/weekend program or UMSL's new part time option. I have 3 kids 5 and under so i'm hoping to avoid daycare costs as much as possible :) I'd rather pay higher tuition for my BSN than community college + daycare, it evens out to about the same so I figure go for the BSN now. Any advice on either of these programs?

Have you considered St Charles Community College? Their program has some flexibility and you could possibly get evening classes there.

I have not attended Maryville personally, however, I have heard very good things about their program from other people. Someone told me though that they like a certain percentage of your pre-reqs to be done there (I thought like at least 1/3 of them.) I'm getting my ASN at SCC (to save money) and then plan on getting my BSN online at UMSL...end result is the same, and seems a lil more feasible for me, I have kiddos too...GOOD LUCK!! :)

I have thought about staying at St. Charles Community College but if possible i'd rather just go ahead and get my BSN now since I have all of my gen eds done and since my kids are really little, daycare will cost an arm and a leg so it would even out with tuition at Maryville or UMSL, which is really the main reason I want to go ahead with one of those schools. I'm going to be spending a lot either way and since i'm pretty much done with prereqs i'd rather just finish my bachelor's now. I did see that SCCC has some evening classes but it looked like not everything can be done in the evening, and I thought their evening classes start at like 3, where as I heard UMSL's doesn't start until the actual evening (like 5 or 6, when my husband would be home with the kids).

- Paramedical girl, I also just heard about Maryville wanting some prereqs done there, I think it was 30 credit hours, although it doesn't say that online and i've been talking to an advisor and he said its not required so hopefully I won't have any issues.

I've been accepted to Maryville's WEC for next fall clinical, and I haven't taken any of my classes at Maryville. If you have a strong GPA, you shouldn't have any problem getting in. I am also a stay-at-home Mom, and it is hard to pass up their great schedule. Classes will be every Tues. and Thurs. night, and clinicals one day every other weekend. I will get to stay home with my little one and be here for my elementary school age child in the afternoons. A traditional program would put me on a campus at least 4 days a week and I imagine the amount of studying I'd have to do with a full schedule would take up the majority of my free time! UMSL also has a wonderful part-time program so if you can get in there, that would also be a great option. Good luck!!:)

Wow clinicals one day every other weekend? How can anyone pass that up? How long is that program? That sounds awesome. I plan on following up my associate with BSN as well. Good luck to you!

It is a part-time program, so you have to go for 7 continuous semesters (including summer).

hello all!

i am in maryville univerity's wec bsn program, and i must say that it is the "end all be all". the flexibility and the faculty and staff are top notch. we just started our clinicals this semester, and it is every other weekend with your choice of saturday or sunday. all classes are two days a week from your choice of monday-thursday. i know my class schedule until december! i go tuesday and wednesday with a saturday clinical. it's probably going to be that way until the duration of the program for me, but you never know. just be mindful that because it is a weekend and evening program, the material is very condensed. lots of study time is required, but i think that's nursing school in general. good luck to you all, and i hope to see some of you around campus (not that i'd know who you were, lol)!

:)

Have you heard about Maryville's PLA program? Did you happen to use it? I really think that I would prefer to go to Maryville. The cost is very intimidating. I would like to know how much it will cost in total and how much financial aid the average person gets? The PLA program is very appealing and so are the hours..then I wonder if halfway through you can transfer to the traditional program . I talk with an advisor on Wednesday.. I have so many questions!!

what is the PLA program? Is this different than WEC?
