What is your take on the issue of legalizing marijuana?
So, are you guys saying that pot is STILL illegal? What a shame. After all these years, a progressive country like the good ole USA can't see the light. Legalize it, put a sin tax on it and put those farmers in Iowa back to work!

Thanks Russell. I don't know why some people get so bent out of shape over this topic. I used to smoke the stuff in high school and college for fun. In the 10 or so years of smoking it once or twice a month I NEVER ONCE saw someone who had smoked weed get the least bit violent. Alcohol consumption is a very different story
Spend one day with me at the highschool I work at and you would have your answer
Spend one day with a group of kids who graduated from high school 1 1/2 years ago and don't have jobs and spend their entire waking hours playing on a Playstation and smoking pot.
Everyone's experiences are different. I have seen many negative outcomes with use of pot. It is pretty much the drug of choice around here for the kids who choose not to do meth.
Some of us get "bent out of shape" because bad things have happened with pot use. Consider yourself lucky it didn't happen to you but don't negate or pooh pooh our concerns. I don't want my kids to use illegal drugs. Why is that a bad thing?

My point exactly. I see everyday when I walk in the highschool the effects drugs are having on our kids today. I really do not think the everyday joe knows how bad the drug problem is. Most parents have no idea that there kids do it on an everyday basis and much more. It really breaks my heart!!!
Well I've only been out of highschool for 4 years or so, and not to mention I went to highschool in a college town. And I think the college campus in the town I lived in was named one of the top colleges for drug trafficking. So pretty much everyone I knew in highschool was doing it, all we had to do was walk to the center of town and ask someone and we could get it. Most people I knew used it on a daily basis and did anyone ever get caught? Nope. No one was ever worried about getting in trouble, it might as well been legal. The fact that it was illegal did not cross anyones minds. If kids are going to do it, theyre going to do it, and actually the fact that it is illegal makes kids want to try it even more. Of course I dont want my kids using drugs either, and I dont want them drinking alcohol underage. I know alot of people who smoked weed in highschool and are now doing nothing. But I also know alot of people who used and are going to Ivy league schools. The kids I used to be friends with who are doing nothing are just losers and have no motivation to do anything with their life, doesnt have much to do with weed(thats just my personal experience). My dh and I are highschool sweethearts, and he smoked weed alot during highschool. He actually almost didnt graduate, because he used to skip school to go smoke. You would think I would be anti-weed, because his smoking habit almost caused him to become a highschool dropout, but he can only blame himself and his parents. Maybe his parents shouldve actually done something when he skipped school and got failing grades, instead of letting my dh get away with it. The weed was more of an excuse for his laziness. Thankfully, senior year he realized he wanted to do something with his life and stopped using it. I have also seen alot of kids lives messed up because of alcohol abuse in highschool, and a friend of mine who died senior year in a car crash because he was drinking and driving. My sister has lived a life without her a father because he died in a drunk driving accident. But I can understand how people see negative outcomes of weed. But if it is legal, the people who are going to use it are going to use it just like they do now, and the people that arent, arent. I know everyones experiences are different. But I have seen negative outcomes of alcohol(especially where people have died), but no one thinks thats a good reason to make alcohol illegal. I think that is why I feel so strongly about this subject, because I have no idea why else LOL.
I smoked a lot of pot when I was young and growing up. I never got busted. I was never in a wreck, I was always motivated in life to keep moving onward. and I havent had any adverse affects from it. Now someone was talking about smoking pot and those play station thingees, I didnt have those when I grew up,in fact we didnt even have Atari then. Maybe the problem isnt Pot but those play station thingees, I still dont have one of those. From what I see those are more addictive and mind numbing by far. And not to mention those addicted to their computers, PDAs and cell phones.
