So we all should have heard weeks ago about our placement now I wanted to start a place for the preparation for Block 1.
I know Fall semester still needs to start and end before we can even get to block 1, but hey I'm to excited.
How is everyone doing getting situated for the universitys?
When is everyone thinking about starting the stuff that needs to be done for Maricopa (I.e. medical papers, titer tests, CPR)?
So I called the advisor at GW just to follow up and see if she had found anything out. She got really rude and annoyed and said that she was still working on it and would email me when she found something out. On one hand I feel bad for calling; I know she's working on it. On the other, I'm mad that she got so rude! I'm just trying to stay on top of things. After my fiasco with GCU, I just want to make sure that I'm set. So frustrated and disheartened!
For CEP people, of course stay on it because you need the placement in order to do your background check. However, keep in mind that your actual place in the program you were selected for has already been pulled from the placement pool. The numbers on the placement page don't apply to you because your spot can't be seen there. It is not uncommon for CEP students to not get "placed" the first round or two because it doesn't matter. The placement center is busy with the hundreds of other students who don't already have guaranteed admission to the program so they dont prioritize the CEP students. Of course errors could happen so following up periodically is OK, but daily is not. The placement page used to have this info posted as a headline but doesnt seem to this time.
What you can do on your side is make sure you have reaffirmed your intention to go to a MCCCD program through the placement page because they can't place you if you have not reaffirmed. Make sure your page acknowledges you are a CEP student with whatever program you are accepted to. Have that program as you number one. And then follow up maybe once a week unless instructed to call more often.
You are already in the program. Your spot was already pulled from the traditional placement pool. You may get placed on a random day not associated with the traditional placement run because again, that placement run does not affect you.
Congrats.
Hi girls! I am with GCC and received my welcome email, but I am confused. First of all i thought that us CEP folks would be registered by the advisors, but I guess not. We have register ourselves and that adds even more nerves lol. They haven't released the date when registration opens and I am so nervous. Anyone with GCC have any more details of when registration opens?

They will give us the schedule and class numbers to register. Don't worry to much. I just keep checking the welcome page for updates.
Advisors can't add nursing classes for students. They can only sign the add form that allows you to enter the class. If the class just has regular open enrollment, then they just monitor the enrollees to make sure only accepted nursing students are enrolled. If the admissions office requires a signed form, the nursing advisor will give you one at orientation or at a scheduling meeting.
For or anyone going to SCC. You will get a welcome packet within a few weeks of acceptance. It will have an info session date for you. In that date they give you schedule and go over what needs to be done before start. They also give you the orientation date and time. Then after you complete all the admission requirements then you email carol to schedule an enrolling meeting where she verifies everything is fine and gives you the class add slip for the nursing courses. You take that slip to the admissions office to enroll in the courses. Then you have orientation a week before class starts. Then you start class.
Just received my packet and was looking it over. I see there are two optional classes on there? Has anyone heard about Them? Are they worth it. Thanks
Im curious also. Most of those are like refreshers, and Im putting the word out to some people to ask them. I probably wont, but good to have info. :) Ill let you know if I hear anything.
Plus did you see the schedule?
You can email me at [email protected] if you dont want to message here. THanks
Let me know what you hear and I'll do the same! I prob will do those classes bc they're offered for a reason. Probably because it's the areas people struggled in the most and I don't wanna chance it and fail. Do you like the schedule? Does anyone know about what they mean about lab reports on the immunization area in packet? I tried calling Mesa many times no one answers the advisors. All I have is shot texts so I'm wondering what labs they need?

Its for the titers to show you are immune.
I didnt have my vaccinations records, but I had my varicella and MMR, so I had titers drawn to prove I had the immunity. Pretty sure thats what "Labs" they are referencing to.
As for the schedule.. It will work for me with taking my daughter to school :)
But my question is.. it says "1st 8 weeks" lecture and then separately it starts "2nd 8 weeks" for clinicals. Do the lectures still continue? i assume
