U.S.A. Arizona

Published

There is already a post for CEP 2019 Summer Start so I figured I would make a new post for those applying next round. I am curious to see how many people plan to apply and how competitive this round will be.

I am applying to PVCC/NAU with 84 points. Thank you to those who participate and good luck next round! ????

I am applying for CGCC/GCU. I'm not sure how many points I will have yet. I'm finishing up a class and have to retake the HESI before I apply. I will update this post when I know my exact number. Hopefully the high 70's though.

I'm curious who else is applying to the GCU program.

I applied to the GCU program as well! 83.9 points.

MCC as my first choice, CGCC second, SCC, third.

Hi all! This will be my third time applying for CEP with UIU and I believe I will be going in with 80.1 points with my current score. I am taking the HESI again tomorrow morning and applying with my best score! Any advice on which CC's to apply for that have a record of accepting students on the lower spectrum? I live in Phoenix but am willing to go basically anywhere aside from CGCC. Staying away from GCC as I haven't had any luck the past 2 times. Was thinking about EMCC, GWCC, PVCC, SCC, or Phoenix College? Please advise! :)

I applied to MCC and she mentioned that there were 85 seats available for cep not sure how popular MCC is though as peoples first choice and all.

GCC, EMCC, and MCC are the schools that are most selected from what I've heard. Butit changes every cycle so this round may be different from the last. Just apply to the schools you most want to attend. Good luck! I hope you get in ?

Hello everyone! I recently applied to the Maricopa Nursing Fall 2019 CEP and I have a couple of questions. This is my first time applying to Maricopa’s Nursing Program and I felt my application process was quite rushed. I took all of my classes at ASU and was told that the classes I received an A- in would be received as B’s. So, my advisor wrote down B’s on my application which ultimately lowered my GPA. I was talking to another Fall 2019 applicant and she informed me she was able to use her A- grades as A’s on her application. Has anyone else encountered this issue?

I have heard that any minuses would be knocked down a letter grade. Seems weird to me but I have seen a few reporting this.

Hi, unfortunately I ran into the same issue and it’s true...all minus grades get dropped down a grade. This happened to a B- that I got in MAT142. It dropped to a C. Luckily I pulled out A’s for nearly everything else, but that’s C really bumped my GPA down.

I applied to PVCC/ASU with 83.3 points. I have GCC as my second choice. Good luck to you all!!

Bit off topic, but where did you take your pre-reqs? I took all mine with Maricopa, and they only ever gave me a straight grade (i.e. no minus or plus grades, just A, B, C etc...). In nursing school the same applies, but be aware they grade to the 100th of a percent, and the cut-offs are slightly different to any other class I have taken.

I'm going from memory, but I think you need over 92% to get an A, over 84% to get a B, and over 76% to get a C. You need to get 76% or above in your proctored classes to pass. It is graded to the 100th, and you will fail if you get 95.99%. No joke.

Anyway - back to the original post - what percent grade/score do you have to get an A minus?

Hi, I took about half of my pre-req’s over 10 years ago at ASU. The rest I took over the past year and a half at PVCC. I honestly couldn’t tell you what you have to get percentage wise to get the solid A. It was soooo long ago.

I applied in April and it's my 3rd time. I was misguided by an advisor too which cost me. I did EMCC,PVCC, and GCC with UIU. I have 80.8 points. Fingers crossed!

Applied with 83.5 points for GCC (weekends first cohort choice)/NAU and PVCC (second choice CC). I’m really, really nervous ?. Can’t take the waiting. Hopefully I will get accepted.
