I am not trying to cause upset. I was merely introducing a hypothetical situation that may or may not be the case in this particular instance. I said that it seems to me that her points could have been miscalculated and how could I possibly prove that someone got into a program by donation or from knowing someone on this forum? Nor would I because it could jeopardize my acceptance into the 4 programs I am currently applying to. Things of this nature go on at many universities, why would this one be any different?
The real world is not a fair place and if you think that all RN’s are honest people you are extremely delusional.

You have proven my point. Introducing "hypothetical situations" that "may or may not be the case"... "points could have been miscalculated", and "how could I possibly prove"..... what exactly is your goal here? To heap even more anxiety on top of already anxious pre-nursing students? Nice.

You are correct that this goes on at many institutions - take the recent shenanigans at UCLA. However, nursing programs are a whole different breed because they are overseen by the Board of Nursing which protects the interests of public health. There are very strictly enforced rules and regulations that schools have to abide by. They would lose accreditation for breaking those mandates, and there are checks and balances in place to prevent such behavior.

Furthermore, the nursing degree is renowned for being very challenging and rigorous. Getting onto the course is only the first hurdle. Staying in it and graduating is the second. Buying your way in would be irrelevant if you were unable to meet the demands of the course. Even with all the education and passion to get into nursing school, it is an unfortunate reality that, on average, about 1/4 to 1/3 of those who start will not graduate. I lost 1/4 of my class at the end of block 1, and by the end of block 2 a full 1/3rd had dropped out. That's just the nature of the beast.

I agree the world isn't fair. It can also be very hostile, callous, and unkind. Sadly, you are adding to that with your posts. I would encourage you, again, to think about what you hope to achieve here.

And, when all is said and done, choose kindness.

Hello everyone! Just got a call from GWCC saying that they have spots open and I got in! Both afternoon and evening are still available. She told me she has a bunch of phone calls to make so there’s still hope! My advancement score (if I calculated it right) is 80.4ish. Hope this helps someone!

Congratulations to you! I wish you the best at gwcc ❤️

Hate is an extremely strong word that I would assume your parents taught you to not use in improper context but I guess not. The ONLY negativity being spread on this forum is by yourself and the other woman whom are “attacking” me. I posted my opinion and knowledge on this forum for those to consider. Please find something else to do besides blame me for the ills of the educational system

This was a very pleasant thread of pre-nursing students encouraging and supporting each other until you posted a third-hand-"knowledge" post about some hypothetical situation that may-or-may-not be the case about someone from a University that is not affiliated with Maricopa CC.

Good for UofA if they accept such students. Maricopa does not. They accept student entirely on credentials. It will come back to bite UofA *if* this is true as they too will have their nursing program overseen by the AZBON. Regardless - to what end was the point of posting in a thread that has nothing to do with UofA?

What was your goal here? To scare people? To try and demoralize those who have or haven't go in? To make people question their acceptance? To make people doubt themselves? Your post holds nothing positive - what kind of reaction did you expect? I actually think people have been very restrained in their response to you.

If you wish to post something helpful about your nursing student experience, please do. Otherwise, perhaps try and find a UofA thread where you can discuss the pay-for-a-place goings-on?

No the rational people posted rational responses. You must have some serious issues to still not leave me alone. Demoralize people? What is wrong with you? All I said was maybe they miscalculated her points and perhaps those other people got in instead of her for some reason. You don’t control this public forum either. So I can post whatever I like. Nothing I said was negative or hateful. Get a life

Why would anyone question their acceptance? I think that you have something going on in your life that you are taking out on me quite frankly. Who are you to judge me for a comment I posted about something that’s currently going on in colleges across the country and something that has gone on for years. I did not state that yes indeed that occurs at this school but it’s just something to CONSIDER if this girl had more points than others who got in. CLEARLY something is wrong in the application process or review......

I am sorry that I offended you so greatly as to have you insult and attack me on a public nursing forum. Please just leave me alone and continue on in your life.

and yet you keep responding to me .... so please do the same and continue with yours, preferably in a thread that has something to do with your own nursing application and not those in the Maricopa area.

I won't be responding to anymore of your posts because yours are filled with ridiculous insults that just makes you lose all credibility. AGAIN - if you have anything positive to add, please do. Otherwise please don't. Thanks.

I FINALLY GOT THROUGH TO DISTRICT.

Looks like my advisor who calculated my points did it incorrectly and did not include my associates making my score 78.26 (Should be 80.76 with AAS)

I just emailed her to see if it can be fixed since it def cost me my seat. fingers crossed and happy I did not wait until the last minute.

Thats terrible. Glad you got through. Crossing fingers it get's fixed.

WOW!! I definitely would have dealt with the university partner as well because would have been able to give you the scores given it’s up to them to generate that information.

OMG! So my friends advisor forgot to submit all of his documents so his application was never considered and he had above 83 points! Now he has to wait till the very end to see if anyone gives up their seat.

so sad! Good luck!!

I started with Mcc who said to ask ASU, I asked ASU and they said they did not have that information until everyone is placed but did give me my GPA, so I asked MCC again who said they did not have the information until denials went out so I asked SCC who said district had it and they provided the information to contact. MCC is now trying to FWD to see if there is anything that can be done but they are unsure if there are any seats left. It was a runaround but I'm happy I finally got an answer and did not give up on searching who could tell me more. praying for the best. I dont see how this is fair if I dont get in but hey I guess its gods plan.

WOW!. That's terrible. I wonderif that staff will be reprimanded. Miscalculating is bad enough but forgetting documents is wild. I get it accidents happen but this is a pretty big deal.
