I am sadden by the misguided information that was given. I would like to believe that everyone that enters the world of health care, chooses integrity and honesty. Even if I knew someone in the department or "a philanthropist", I hope that they never pick me because of those reasons. I believe that selection into the MC is competitive and they have taken measures to prevent any type of stigma as such. Our applications are reviewed by the MC advisors, then dropped at the University advisors for a second calculation and placement, and then headed to the selection process. Whether if there is a chance that it can be skewed, why share this information with students that are anxiously waiting for their results? I whole-heartedly believe that everyone that applied this round have worked extremely hard to get to this point. Most of us, have been rewarded with a placement but what about the others who are still waiting? Your information only brings hatred and hurt to those who are still awaiting for their placement. If it is a positive message, spread it. If it is negative, especially if you believe that there are ethical issues revolving the school itself; report it to the school board with proof so no students suffer from this as a consequence.

@candidateFall2020: I wholeheartedly, 100% agree with your post.
And.......
The rub is that cactuslover didn't present or claim to have proof. Only anecdotal tales about a third person and a university that isn't even part of the forum topic in which he/she posted.
The post served no purpose. It was thoughtlessly insensitive to those waiting with anticipation and high nerves.
@Cactuslover: Instead of claiming vast knowledge of the world, you should revisit a little knowledge about people, especially if nursing is your intended field.
Hello everyone! Just got a call from GWCC saying that they have spots open and I got in! Both afternoon and evening are still available. She told me she has a bunch of phone calls to make so there’s still hope! My advancement score (if I calculated it right) is 80.4ish. Hope this helps someone!

Congrats Maddierose!!

I do know that if people know someone on the committee they will get in even if they don’t have the same GPA and what not. It’s not fair but I know a girl at the UA who did that
As someone who has *served on the selection committee* plus has gone through the CEP program, I can assure you that this information is incorrect. Since I doubt you have served on a selection board (although correct me if I am wrong), and since you are not even applying to this program, and since your "information" is third hand at best, I strongly suggest that you refrain from posting such antagonistic commentary.
Nursing is a very stressful profession....as a licensed, F/T RN I can speak from experience, not "I know someone....". I also know first hand the incredible anxiety of waiting to hear back from the CC about your place, the scores of questions that students have, and the intense journey they are about to begin.
Thus, comments such as yours serve no purpose other than to belittle the huge sacrifices, hard-work, and dreams of so many students. If your approach to life is to drag others down, then I feel pity for you.
The more we start to support and uplift each other, the stronger the profession of nursing can become. Why not use your student experience so far to provide some insight or advice to upcoming students? Or offer study tips? Or upload study guides? Or anything other than trying to cause upset?
Every single person who earns a place deserves to be there. Period. Congratulations to those who have secured a place, and for those that didn't this time around - don't give up on your dream! Keep going, it will be worth it! ?

WOW!, thank you for the kind and inspiring reality check. I wish my comment could have been so credible and uplifting. Thanks!

I am not trying to cause upset. I was merely introducing a hypothetical situation that may or may not be the case in this particular instance. I said that it seems to me that her points could have been miscalculated and how could I possibly prove that someone got into a program by donation or from knowing someone on this forum? Nor would I because it could jeopardize my acceptance into the 4 programs I am currently applying to. Things of this nature go on at many universities, why would this one be any different?
The real world is not a fair place and if you think that all RN’s are honest people you are extremely delusional.

Hate is an extremely strong word that I would assume your parents taught you to not use in improper context but I guess not. The ONLY negativity being spread on this forum is by yourself and the other woman whom are “attacking” me. I posted my opinion and knowledge on this forum for those to consider. Please find something else to do besides blame me for the ills of the educational system

Congrats to you!! We will be going to the same CC.

Thank you, A/C, for squashing any inkling of doubt that began forming in the darkest corners of my mind after I read cactus lover’s post. Rumors are like wildfire and they can cause a lot of damage and anxiety. For those of you who are still waiting to hear back please do not feel discouraged by bitter individuals. They are lobsters in a bucket. Keep going towards your dreams!

I have been thinking of you as well. I hope that they did compute your points correctly. I think you should email your university advisor as I think they do know what is going on with the selections. Please keep us updated. We are all anxiously waiting along with you, cheering you on my friend!
