*waves from my corner of Cincy* Yay neighbors! :D I never even heard of that review course! I'm getting into the Kaplan.....now that I'm actually sitting down and listening to the classes. I was a slacker when I first started it.

I would have never heard of it either if my roommates didn't take the course - but everyone I know who took it (and there are a lot of people I know who did) passed the NCLEX on their first try with 75 questions. Only one got to 265 but he still passed. No one I know took Kaplan except for one person, and she passed.

My school didn't even mention review courses. We had a mandatory one after taking the exit HESI exam...even if we scored above the desired 850 we still had to take it. They compared it to other review courses in the area. It was 3 days, we got a little review book and I will say that that Evolve course can't even compare to the course I took. The mandatory Evolve course was a total joke and total waste of my time!

Buszta! http://www.busztanclex.com. They also have a Facebook page.

I HIGHLY recommend. They tutor students from all over Ohio, even some students from Erie, PA.

Like a ghetto-ish review course huh?

They are the same and I use the test trainer 6 & 7 alot because it has more questions and it helps to me practice to sit for that many questions which I hope I stop at 75 but anywho just be positive and you can do it. I was the first to fail in my class, but don't be embarrassed about it, actually it worked out for me that since I failed I was able to get the resources I needed from my professors to borrow without having to pay for anything.

I take it again on March 30th. DON"T give up and ALWAYS stay POSITIVE!!

Best of luck to you!

You have a good attitide! Your March test will be the one for you!

Thanks for the info on the trainers, that is good to know. I haven't gotten to 6 or 7 yet, but have done just OK on tests 1-4 (mid to upper 70s - which I think is alright for that those.) I seem to be in the 70s% for most of the tests in the different books and CDs too. It is hard to know if it is enough, since some tests tell you to strive for 80-85%, and others say 65%. I do think that I am getting better from just answering some many questions. I am starting to learn the tricks and "how to think" in order to answer for the NCLEX - not trying to be realistic. One of the tips I read was to answer for the test, not for real life - act like you have all the time in the world and that the patient in the question is your only patient and you have all the resources possible. That helped.

I am trying to do a big mix of books, CDs, etc, so I get a rounded influence.

Good luck to you, too!

:lol2:

actually far from it...the main instructor who teaches the course is this middle-age woman who is hilariously vulgar...but it helps you remember stuff! I think I learned more from this 8 week course than I have in 4 years of nursing school

Thanks so much, melosaur! I really appreciate the info. Will look into buszta.
