March 26 start

Published

Anyone else planning on starting the program on March 26? I just got off the phone with admissions and they have my transcripts. After my info as been through "two checkpoints," I'm supposed to receive a welcome packet in late February. I'm excited and nervous at the same time!

Specializes in Med/Surg, Neuro, ICU, travel RN, Psych.

Finished the first assignment, I really hope I did ok. Is anyone else freaking out right about now? I'm seriously worried about doing well on these papers. It's been so long since I learned all the proper grammer, I'm so afraid I'm going to make a million mistakes. Trying to read through the APA book is so overwhelming.

Specializes in ICU, step down, dialysis.

I'm right there with ya...I'm just floored by this APA format, especially the book. My goodness, so many rules!! :banghead: The website they recommended, that Purdue Owl, was easier to read for me. I think I'm going to invest in the PERRLA software program. I was told by another student that it was a huge help for them when doing their papers.

Yeah, the indentations and spacing all that don't seem like such a big deal to me. It's all the other stuff that goes with it. I just looked up PERRLA. I definitely think I may get that. It seems like a huge help.

Specializes in L&D and OR.

Freaking out too! Finished the third assignment, took me all day to write a frickin' two page paper. The first two assignments had me worried but I figure this grammar/spelling stuff will be over after this week. Anxious to get the grading back. My girl friend who is the head of the online English department for a university said they don't understand the APA book and she can't believe they are making us use that as our reference. So that made me feel a bit better. Hoping it gets lighter from this week on.

I definitely recommend using the OWL site rather than the APA book as much as you can. It breaks things down in much more user friendly terms. I used it as a back up for the second assignment last night and it was quite a bit easier. Now to see how I did on it, lol. I have to do Assignment 3 still.

I am working on my 7th class at OU and I did not buy the APA book. I use the Purdue OWL site exclusively.

Im on my 3rd assignment for the first class. Im running into a formatting issue with Word 2011. My header on the second page continues to say "running head" and if I try to change my header all of them change. Any advice on how to fix it? The video in module 1 explains it but it didnt work :(. Im frustrated and running out of time. I can sum up my "statement" in about a paragraph so Im getting stuck there as well.

Thanks!

I really have no idea, but have you tried starting a new document and trying it? I still have to do mine.

Question about Assignment 3 with the Personal Statement. The rubric shows points for the reference/citation page. What are we supposed to be referencing?

It makes no sense so i just found something that relates to obtaining higher education and enhancing the practice of nursing and some how worked it into my statement.I am working on it as i type just taking a little break.

In the assignment 3 info. it references Purdue OWL: Writing the Personal Statement

to use for personal statement. If you use it I guess you could reference that and then

maybe site something else about nurses furthering their education. That's what I'm planning on doing. Just getting started.

I am so glad you have the same question (reference/citation). I thought maybe I had missed something!
