A thread for all those in March who are planning to take the NCLEX offering both support and any hints or tips that help

Good luck to all :D

Hi Guys,

Just check this out... maybe a little too much detail but I found a few classifications and tables useful .....its about cardio meds

http://www.indstate.edu/mary/N645/mod7.htm

What does DOC mean? What is DM on the webpage you mentioned above? Does anybody know? Thanks

Sorry. I think that I chose the wrong quote. It was my second time to post message there. please forgive me. ;)

lol, i never said i was a single mother. anywho, my little one is quite demanding but i have the help of DH and our moms. I just keep her with me most of the time, instead of going to the library or something to study. thats all going to change though.

wishiwereanurse- we practiced questions like that in Kaplan. Igiminor is right, you would transfer the most stable patient with a predictable outcome.

chirpingrobin- i will update the list today. thanks for joining us

hello to everyone else, i have kinda been MIA for the past few days. i took a little break from studying, but i am getting back on board. did we ever decide how we are going to do our review of content? i seen the imiginor wrrote a list of systems. will each one of us be doing a system or two and then sharing?

Miss JKm,

I think if we have time... maybe a system a day would be a better idea... also there is a another suggestion.. if we do it by broad categories like the test plan for eg safe and effective care... how do we exactly break it up in segments???? I think lab values, infection control, procedures for eg tubes etc are almost always going to be tested on..also drug levels... so if we could make a clear plan.. it would help all of us follow it

igiminor, i think doing the test plan may be a little tough. i think its easier to do a system a day along with relevant meds. but whatever you all decide is fine with me, i just dont know where to start

probably its best to have a poll since we don't have any moderator for this group...if everyone is agreeable, we are able to get more participation.

A. Test Plan

B. System a day

I like to have the system a day but probably after all systems are discussed, we can probably talk about how the exam is written...im currently preparing for the NCLEX the 2nd time but until now I am really not clear which are the high level questions that we need to answer right so we are able to pass.

Hi

Kellied had posted here regarding s/e of anticholinergic drugs.... can't see, cant pee, cant spit

I just want to add... in cholinergic crisis...(Myasthenia gravies)---just add "more" in front of the last two and you have s/s of cholinergic crisis..more spit(more secretions-bronchial,tears,perspiration)

more diarrhea(nausea) vomiting

If you guys do system by system.....you guys will not leave anything out. If you guys do by test plan......theres a lot possibility for topics to be missed out. Meds are easier to review by system as well. All the tubes, drugs, procedures will be covered when you do by system like chest tube for CV and resp. system, NG for GI, trach for resp etc...etc. Infections will be covered when you cover peds, GU system, resp system etc. too.

My suggestion is take as many days as you guys want to review that system. Dont be rushed. Also, some group members in this group may finish system early than other group members. Take your individual time.

My teacher who led the plan out for me is a Phd, RN and has 20+ yrs of nursing-teaching experience and her suggestion to me was to follow system by system so that I dont miss things out. I followed like what she said. I passed.

Just my 2 cents for you guys who are confused:specs:

B=system a day

I vote for the system a day because when you guys started talking about cardio, I started reading up on Cardio too...

yeah, we need to determine which type of questions are high-level...but sometimes it seems to me the analysis/application questions are the same as recall types...ooooiiii I'm confused!

most stable>transfer... Thanks! It's easy to say common sense but you really gotta treat them as separate yes or no questions 'cuz they can get you thinking. I think I remembered this particular type of question because I've havent encountered them when I first reviewed...knowing the normal / stable is just as important as knowing abnormal / unstable I guess...

:w00t: Goodluck to us all! WE CAN CROSS THIS! :pumpiron:

Please everybody.. add or subract from the following deas..If and only if ....everybody is testing in the Month of march... then we have the remaining days in Jan and entire month of feb...So maybe if one of us... made a overall plan ....so say for eg..this is just an example cardio.for maybe one day for theory..one for meds..2 days... while each does their own review.. maybe we could put some info we find important like we did with MI here.....:twocents:

i like iginimor's idea. we should use two days or three, to review systems along with meds. we can assign a system to each member along with the date of review. once we post our info, anyone can add or ask questions.

wizard100- thanks for your ideas. i think we would also leave out A LOT of we used the NCLEX test plan.
