Hi~
I am just starting into my nursing classes and so I can't answer that questions, but I will tell you about Anatomy and Physiology and Microbiology.
At the time I took the classes, my professors told us that if we wanted a B in the class that we needed to study a minimum of 2 hours for every hour we were in class. If we wanted an A, we needed to spend a minimum of 3 hours studying for every hour in class. I found that to be true. I usually spent about 6 hours a week studying for A&P. Make sure you study some everyday. Don't wait and think that you will just study really hard before the test and do well. It probably won't happen. I spent less time studying for Micro. It never seemed as hard as A&P.
Study and I'm sure you will do a great job.
Good Luck~

This is a GREAT topic thread! For the sciences, it's so true that you have to put in a LOT of hours of study time. Where I am from, Anatomy and Physiology are two different classes. But for Physiology and Microbiology, I must have spent about four hours a week studying for EACH class. I haven't taken Anatomy yet, but for Organic Chemistry, literally six hours a week. That was a really tough class...but I ended up with 96% in that class. I also earned A's in Physio and Micro as well.
I also work about 20-25 hours a week in an office job that I love because I can study when it gets slow (most of the time, it is pretty slow). So, a lot of people tell me that I shouldn't work during Nursing school (once I get in), but because it's such a laid back job where I can actually study for classes, I don't think it's going to be a huge problem.

I studied about 15 hours a week for A&P I & II and the labs and I got A's in all of them. I also work full time. So basically I have no life except work and school! It's worth it though!

I ended up with a C in AP1 & AP2 - so I would say I didnt study enough. I tried to get in an hour of reading on my lunch break several times a week, but I did a lot of skimming rather than really reading and I think that was my big mistake. I'm starting Micro in a couple of weeks and I am getting a head start on the reading and plan to squeeze in an hour on my lunch break and an hour before going to bed EVERYDAY.
(I work 40 hours a week and have 2 small kiddos).

I work 25 hrs a wk.....jusy finished my summer courses w/A's....I spend no less than 4 hrs a day studying....most days 6. I am already prepping for fall.....flashcards are made(a lot of them anyway) I take a subject and spend the whole day on that subject, the next day, I study a different subject....I e-mailed my Profs to ask what I could do to prepare for their class....Most were kind enough to give me information....so basically, I am 3wks ahead of the game, the frist few chapters down and moving into the next.....I do lots of online test for practice and flashcards go everywhere w/me

I work two days a week. The other 5 days, I do homework, read ahead, study for exams, etc. It's rare for me to take an entire day off and do no studying, even on the weekend. I would say when I was taking A&P and Chemistry at the same time I was easily studying 25 hours a week outside of class.

i study like 5 hours a day (at work)
plus before class, and a little bit after...
around 30 hours a week
helps me mantain my 4.0
Can't figure out how to edit my post, is there a time limit on how long from the time you post until you can no longer edit it?
Anyway, thinking it over it's probably more like 10-15 hours for math and 15-20 for chem.
However, those study hours are frequently interrupted by my children, so it would be hard to say how that translates. :chuckle
