Many foreign nurses attempting NCLEX??

Nursing Students NCLEX

I am a foreign trained nurse - trained in Australian 15 years ago, and I'm finding studying for this exam really tough! I failed one attempt of the exam... Makes me wonder if I learned anything in those 15 years! ... and obviously forgot everything I ever learned in my degree!

Hey I am a IEN too. Unfortunately I also failed in my attempt for it:( though was not expecting that. I think this CAT exam boomed me up. What are yu studying now??

You can do it! I honestly felt like the NCLEX was not even really representative of how I am as a nurse. It focuses in on your weaknesses though - so take the time to see what you're missing questions on. I did a bunch of questions to prep and a number of people have found prep programs helpful - have you considered trying one or maybe online question banks?

Here is one of the foreign nurse.... failed first attempt too, going for the second attempt in 2 weeks and i have exactly the same feeling... seems like i never even went to school at all... been working though for 7 years as a nurse and still find it so hard to go through again content, haven't done a lot of questions, been just going through content...... when are you retesting?

I am a foreign nurse also and I am studying for the NCLEX. Just study you'll pass eventually. I am studying questions from Saunders CD. I am already done with almost 1500 questions. Its a lot of content and takes quite a bit of dedication.

Hey wish you good luck. I only studied Saunders and did practice questions from that only. I think you should also explore different sources for practice questions and strategies as well.

I just did self study from Saunders only and didn't clear it. I am panning to take Nscbn course also. Hey if you have any resources or materials for study like any online book please share. I would much appreciate

Specializes in Med-Surg.

I'm IEN, worked 4-5 years in Canada before taking NCLEX. I took questions I found for free online as well as Saunders. I passed first time, but I've always been a good test taker. And honestly, my original licensing exam was much harder than NCLEX, regardless of level of experience. Good luck to you all!

I have been working through the NCSBN course online. I hope their questions are like the NCLEX though will have to wait and see about that. Have also worked through Kaplan text book... Do you have plans to sit it soon? I hope to sit it in a few weeks, but may not be able to as I heard lots of grads have just finished school and have priority over others… shall wait and see how it goes.

Thanks! Working through NCSBN review program.

@Henrica80: Hope to sit it in a few weeks too, but have not scheduled it. Hope you pass!

I am doing the NCSBN also, I find it good, but I don't think they've been around that long. I find a lot of errors in their questions (genuine errors - not being picky). But in all I think they are quite good, and I think their practice bank questions reflect the NCLEX the most from what I have seen out there so far: Saunders, Kaplan, Lippincott.
